David Tennant admits he had his “eye on” Pedro Pascal role

David Tennant has admitted that he had his “eye on” a role that was later given to Pedro Pascal.

Over time, the actor has portrayed a variety of unforgettable characters, such as playing the tenth Doctor in “Doctor Who” and the supervillain Kilgrave from “Jessica Jones.

Now, Tennant has expressed his desire to re-enter the MCU – this time, as a beloved superhero.

At this weekend’s MCM Comic Con in London, the actor was questioned about which superhero or villain character he would have preferred to portray, regardless of whether it had already been acted out by someone else.

John Tennant had mentioned he was thinking about taking on the character of Mr. Fantastic, the head of The Fantastic Four; however, that part was later secured by Pascal.

Regarding superheroes, I must admit I had been leaning towards Reed Richards, but it seems they’re choosing another path instead.

“Although if it has to be someone, I’m happy for it to be Pedro Pascal, frankly.”

He expressed, “It would have been wonderful if I could be Reed Richards. I wish I had the abilities he possesses.” Then, he extended his arm to demonstrate the character’s powers.

I’ll still hold on to that option, despite it being gone for now, as it might be some time before we can attempt it again, regrettably.

Tennant added: “I think Pedro Pascal is great. I’m very, very pleased that he exists.”

This fall, the new Marvel movie called “The Fantastic Four: First Footsteps” will be released in theaters. The quartet of characters, consisting of Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, rounds out the team.

Additionally, Julia Garner (playing Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer), Ralph Ineson (in the role of Galactus), John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Paul Walter Hauser have been confirmed for appearances as well.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in cinemas on July 25, 2025.
