David Mitchell teaming up with Peep Show co-star for new show
The stars of Peep Show, David Mitchell and Robert Webb, are coming together once more for a fresh, new comedy sketch series on Channel 4.
As reported by the broadcaster, the unnamed show features the duo joining forces with an array of fresh and cutting-edge talents, signifying a daring comeback for British comedy in the sketch genre.
These stars includes Ghosts actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Lara Ricote, Stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans.
The six-episode series is set to be co-produced by That Mitchell & Webb Company along with ITV’s Big Talk Studios, with Mitchell and Webb’s regular producer, Gareth Edwards, serving as the main director.
For now, specifics such as the title, storyline, and debut date of the series are being carefully concealed.
In response to Channel 4 asking them to create another comedy sketch series, Mitchell and Webb replied with surprise, puzzlement, and a readiness to comply.
These are challenging times for the industry, but we’re optimistic that reviving the most complex genre of comedy might prove to be an ingenious move in going against conventional wisdom.
As a gamer, I’d say: “We’re certain that unlike the iconic scene of Roger Moore hanging onto a car on a cliff edge in For Your Eyes Only, we’re not about to push British TV comedy off the digital cliff. Instead, we aim to keep it thriving and entertaining for generations to come.
Excited to collaborate with our exceptionally talented, young cast! We invite everyone to pay close attention during the commercial break and consider making a purchase. It could be anything from a box of chocolates to an app – just something, if you will.
The pair have gained recognition for their roles in the Channel 4 sitcom “Peep Show,” as well as their radio and television programs titled “That Mitchell and Webb Sound” and “That Mitchell and Webb Look.
The television show “Peep Show” concluded in 2015 following a 12-year run and completion of nine series. Since then, the duo behind it, Mitchell and Webb, have teamed up again for another Channel 4 comedy titled “Back“, which spanned two seasons.
