Sources say comedian David Mitchell is likely to be a contestant on the next season of The Celebrity Traitors.
According to The Sun, the 51-year-old comedian is among several well-known figures that company leaders are hoping to recruit.
A source told the publication: ‘Producers think David would be an amazing contestant.
He’s both incredibly funny and very intelligent. Many viewers will likely be reminded of Stephen Fry, who was a big hit with audiences in the first series.
David’s experience on Would I Lie To You? will likely be both an advantage and a disadvantage when he’s participating in discussions at the round table.
The second series of the reality spin-off will begin filming in May in the Scottish Highlands. Claudia Winkleman, age 54, will return as host, filming at the historic Ardross Castle.
Steve Pemberton is also reportedly being lined up for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors.
Reece Shearsmith, 58, known for his role in The League of Gentlemen, is said to be discussing a possible return to the show after sharing his enthusiasm for it when it began in 2022.
As a huge fan, I’m hearing Steve is being considered for the show, and honestly, it’s perfect! He’s totally fascinated by how everything works behind the scenes – he’d be the ideal person to fill that role and really get into the nitty-gritty of the production.
Jonathan Ross filled this role last year, and as a longtime fan, he became a key figure on the show.
Steve, a highly acclaimed actor known for his ability to convincingly portray diverse characters, would be a strong and challenging opponent for the other players.
There are reports that Amanda Holden might also join the show, especially since her close friend Alan Carr is set to win the 2025 season.
According to The Sun, she initially encouraged the talkative man to subscribe, but now she reportedly wants to join the series herself.
Amanda will have a hard time scheduling filming because she’s busy with both Britain’s Got Talent and her radio show.
According to a source, filming for The Traitors happens in the Scottish Highlands at the same time as the live Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals, which take place in London on Saturday nights.
She might be able to get some time off, but she’d still have other work to manage.
Sources say Alison Hammond is being considered to join the next season of The Celebrity Traitors, and discussions with BBC executives are underway.
According to The Sun, the 50-year-old ITV presenter is eager to join the show, and BBC executives think she’d be hilarious.
A source told the publication: ‘The Beeb thinks she could be comedy gold, just like Alan Carr.
‘Alison is naturally very funny and they think she could end up being hugely successful.
‘The pot of talent wanting to take part is overflowing, so they have a lot to weigh up.’
While contracts aren’t expected to be finalized until later this year, there’s strong interest in getting her signature soon.
Other famous faces, including Danny Dyer and Ruth Jones from Gavin & Stacey, are also rumored to be considering joining the show.
A BBC spokesperson said they don’t comment on rumors, but information about the next season of The Celebrity Traitors will be shared soon.
Since it first aired in 2022, this exciting game of hidden identities, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, has been a hit with viewers.
Alan Carr won the first season of The Traitor, successfully hiding his identity from the other contestants the entire time.
The final episode of the show drew an average of 11.1 million viewers, as Alan, age 49, successfully tricked Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga into thinking he was one of the ‘Faithful’ players.
The show drew 12 million viewers at its highest point, making it the BBC’s most-watched program overnight since the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special aired last year.
Everyone was amazed and confused when Alan won the £87,500 prize, especially since he’d previously said he was just as terrible at being a Traitor as Linda Rands from season three.
Alan unexpectedly won after Nick, 45, and David, 55, suddenly switched their support away from Joe Marler, creating a surprising and dramatic moment for viewers.
I was absolutely gutted for Joe! He totally had it figured out – he knew Alan and Cat were the Traitors, I really believed him – but he just couldn’t get the others to listen. It was so frustrating to watch, and then, at the very last second, he was the one who got banished! It just wasn’t fair.
