‘David Makes Man’ and ‘Billions’ actor Akili McDowell arrested, charged with murder, theft
As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of television and film, I’ve always admired the talent and potential that each actor brings to the screen. However, the recent news about Akili McDowell’s arrest for murder and theft is truly disheartening. It’s a stark reminder that fame and fortune do not necessarily equate to moral compass or wisdom.
Television actor Akili McDowell, known for shows like “David Makes Man” and “Billions,” has been imprisoned due to the accusation that he murdered a 20-year-old individual in Houston.
21-year-old McDowell has been accused of both murder and burglary and was apprehended recently, as indicated by Harris County jail records. Houston authorities claim that McDowell is the suspect behind the fatal shooting of Cesar Peralta in July.
In light of the heartbreaking events affecting Akili and those close to them, I find myself deeply moved and offering my prayers for their wellbeing. At present, I feel it’s best to remain silent and allow the situation to unfold while respecting everyone involved. This is a difficult time for all, and my thoughts are with them. – Jonell White, McDowell’s manager.
On July 20th, I found myself responding to an unfortunate incident that took place in the parking lot of a northeast Houston apartment complex located at 13503 North Thorntree. In this incident, a gentleman named Peralta tragically sustained gunshot wounds and unfortunately lost his life on the spot. Following the shooting, it’s said that McDowell made haste from the scene.
On August 1st, McDowell was arrested and has been kept in custody until today, with a combined bail set at $421,000 for charges related to murder and theft. His court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow.
The investigation into McDowell’s alleged killing of Peralta is ongoing, police said.
As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but share my admiration for McDowell’s diverse portfolio. On the small screen, he’s graced us with his presence in series such as “The Astronaut Wives Club,” “Chase the Lion,” and “I Am Athlete.” In the realm of cinema, he has left an indelible mark with his performances in films like “The Waterboyz” and “Criminal Activities.”
