David ‘Kochie’ Koch becomes a grandfather for the ninth time as his youngest daughter Georgie welcomes her first child
Oh, the joy that fills my heart as I witness the blossoming of another generation in the Koch clan! David ‘Kochie’ Koch, a legend in Australian broadcasting and an iconic figure in my personal life, has become a grandfather for the ninth time. The man who has been waking me up since I was a toddler is now welcoming his ninth grandchild, Heidi.

On a fun note, the previous Sunrise host, aged 68, used Instagram last Friday to announce that his youngest daughter, Georgie, had welcomed her first baby into the world.
It’s been verified that Georgie and her spouse Alex Merkel, residents of London, have recently become parents to a newborn girl named Heidi.
In a heartwarming post, David (also known as Kochie) posted an endearing photo of his wife Libby greeting their ninth grandchild for the first time during their visit in London.
He gushed in a caption: ‘When Libby meets Heidi… grandchild #9… in London for the first time. First child for Georgie and Alex.’
Back in April, it was publicly announced that David’s youngest daughter, Georgie, was pregnant with her first child, during an appearance on The Morning Show.
At the given time, he shared with hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies that Georgie was anticipating her first baby, currently residing in London.
‘Lib and I are off to London to visit her and on Monday – we are going to the ultrasound appointment. She is 24/25 weeks.’
David additionally shared details about a delightful family custom of his when he disclosed what he plans to purchase for Georgie during his trip to London.
He shared: ‘We have a family tradition, we buy the first pram for each of the families. ‘(We’re) very excited. It’s number nine for us.’
In the beautiful outdoors of Regent’s Park, London, Georgie exchanged vows with her current spouse, Alex, during their wedding on July 2022.
Apart from Georgie, both David and Libby are parents to daughters Brianna and Samantha, and a son named Alexander, more commonly called AJ.
