David Harbour was reportedly involved in a kerfuffle over the weekend involving a hat.
According to TMZ, 50-year-old David Harbour, known for his role in Stranger Things, reportedly took a man’s hat at a pub in Encinitas, California on Saturday. The man later got his hat back.
A video of the incident seems to exist, but TMZ was only given a private viewing and hasn’t released it publicly.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m following up on this story, and my team reached out to both Harbour and the Encinitas Ale House – the location where this reportedly happened – for their side of things. We’re still waiting to hear back from them, but I’ll be sure to share any updates as soon as we have them.
According to reports, the video shows Harbour going into the Encinitas Ale House and quickly coming back out, running outside while holding a white hat.
The actor, who recently separated from his wife, Lily Allen, allegedly yelled while looking back, ‘Come on, man, seriously, help me!’

A man was then seen leaving the bar, appearing upset, and reportedly asked, “What did I do to deserve this?”
After that, many people came outside to see what was happening, and someone – a woman – shouted, ‘Please, don’t fight!’
As she finished speaking, the man walked back to the bar, still wearing his hat. There were no reports of any physical fight between Harbour and the man, and they simply went their separate ways.
According to a witness at the bar, the incident began when a man wearing a hat noticed Harbour outside and went to greet him.
Harbour was talking with a friend who mentioned they were planning to meet up with several women. But Harbour surprisingly suggested they go back to the man’s house instead, which the man found confusing.
The man returned to the bar, and David Harbour soon followed. TMZ reports that Harbour then took the hat and left immediately.
According to witnesses, Harbour suddenly threw his hat to the floor, asked a question about the Iraq War, became visibly upset, and then knelt down to pray.
According to a source, David has always been open about his bipolar disorder, and this current situation could be related to that. They suggest the stress of working constantly and being in the public eye could be particularly difficult for someone with his condition, and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a contributing factor.
Harbour was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was in his 20s, but he kept it private for years. He didn’t feel comfortable talking about his mental health struggles publicly until after he became well-known for his role as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, as he feared it would make people question his reliability.

During a 2019 interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, he explained that as an actor, his main concern used to be finding work, but now he’s reached a point where he feels comfortable discussing these issues.
‘Also, I’m in my forties, I may as well be myself, whether I get work or not.’
Harbour shared his experiences openly, hoping to help and encourage others facing similar challenges.
He explained that his main motivation stemmed from imagining a mother whose child was removed from school and then diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
The mother believes this diagnosis means her child will never fully integrate into society, picturing a future of isolation and inactivity. I understand her fear, because I’ve personally experienced what that kind of life feels like.
If you respect what I do – and you don’t have to – then I’m just like any other person starting out.

‘That’s what I want to share with those people because they suffer like my parents suffered.’
This reported hat situation follows the recent breakup of Harbour and Allen after four years of marriage. Allen’s new album, ‘West End Girl,’ openly and honestly details the difficulties and eventual end of their relationship.
The song ‘Madeline’ is a powerfully emotional track, entirely focused on the woman Allen believes her husband had an affair with.
In the song, Allen describes directly messaging the woman in question, and questioning her with lines like, ‘How long has this been happening? Is this just physical, or are feelings involved?’
The song’s lyrics quickly led Allen’s many fans on a wild search to figure out who ‘Madeline’ was – a question the singer playfully emphasized with a frustrated lyric: ‘Who the heck is Madeline?’

Although Allen said the name was an alias, the Mail on Sunday discovered that Madeline was actually costume designer Natalie Tippett.
Tippett recently responded to the singer’s comments with a series of posts on Instagram.
She refuted allegations of a lengthy affair and stated she was deeply upset and felt her privacy had been seriously breached by Allen’s depiction of her.
She firmly denied having a three-year affair with anyone. She questioned why someone was trying to create a false story and turn people against her, especially since she has saved messages proving it isn’t true – messages that have now been used in a song without her permission.
I refuse to pit women against each other because of men’s actions, particularly when it comes to open relationships. I genuinely hope she finds success, financial stability, healing, happiness, and everything else she’s looking for.
The 34-year-old mother, who is raising her child alone, understands that speaking up carries risks, but she believes it’s better than allowing someone to benefit from false and hurtful statements.
‘I’m a human being not a character someone created,’ she added.
At the time, Tippett appeared reluctant to hit back, or to turn her sex life into a public debate.
She admitted she’d heard the song, but explained she had a family to consider and needed to protect them. She has a young daughter, two and a half years old, and found the situation a bit frightening.
Tippett reportedly first met Harbour, who is 16 years older than her, while working on the Netflix film We Have A Ghost in New Orleans in 2021.

Harbour played the main role in the film, and Tippett was a costume designer. They supposedly started a romantic relationship soon after filming began.
Even after the movie finished filming, reports say he continued his affair with Tippett, flying her to his home in Atlanta, Georgia, while still with Allen.
Harbour married Allen last year in Las Vegas. Allen has two daughters from a previous marriage to Sam Cooper: Ethel, who is 13, and Marnie, who is 12.
After a fast-moving romance, the couple – who initially connected on the exclusive dating app Raya – have both deleted their accounts.
However, Allen decided to go back on the app and saw her husband had been using a hidden profile for about a month.
According to a source, Lily was checking Raya, a dating app, to see which women were on it, and then comparing that list to the women David followed on Instagram. She was trying to find out who he was dating.
After the separation, Allen returned to London and purchased a flat—originally council housing—in the neighborhood where she spent her childhood.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe it! This building… I’ve literally dreamed about living here since I was a little kid. Seriously, forever! And finally, FINALLY, a flat came up for sale, and I was actually able to buy it! I still can’t believe I actually live here now. It’s a dream come true!
