David Harbour Reveals 30-Year Feud and Shocking Connection to Pedro Pascal in Thunderbolts*
Red Guardian goes way back with The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Mister Fantastic.
David Harbour and Florence Pugh briefly discussed their roles in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday, mentioning that they’ll be working alongside more than twenty actors from previous Marvel films as well as the new Fantastic Four. This includes Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards, about whom Harbour shared an interesting tidbit – “I’ve known Pedro Pascal since I was seventeen years old because we went to the same acting program at Northwestern [Cherubs]. We were in the same play, and he got the lead role. Even back then, he was incredibly talented. And ever since, I’ve been a little jealous of him for thirty years.
Moreover, the stars of Black Widow jokingly discussed their affinity for heights as they playfully taunted the world’s second-tallest structure. This daring act reminded one of Tom Cruise, who scaled the Burj Khalifa in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Pugh enthusiastically declared, “I enjoy high places and it seemed like an incredible test. Plus, I got to perform this feat in a Marvel film, which would be recorded forever, and I could share my achievement with everyone.
Nevertheless, she disclosed that multiple jumps were postponed due to lightning alerts nearby, causing Harbour to confess his preference for remaining on the ground and enjoying a tasty chocolate chip cookie. In a previous interview, Pugh revealed that Natasha Romanoff’s demise will significantly impact Thunderbolts, as both actors strive to preserve that aspect of their relationship in the movie.
After playing Oberyn Martell in “Game of Thrones”, Pascal has since taken on multiple leading roles in high-profile films and series such as “Narcos”, “The Last of Us”, “Gladiator II”, and “The Mandalorian”. In the upcoming “Fantastic Four”, he will join forces with Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn. Their characters are Earth’s final barrier against Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer, serving as its retro-futurist defense.
Thunderbolts* Is Hitting Theaters on May 2
After making her Marvel introduction in “Black Widow”, Pugh reappeared as Yelena in Disney+’s “Hawkeye”. The movie’s final scene hinted that the villain Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) had hired Yelena to assassinate Clint Barton. On the other hand, Harbour provided the voice for Red Guardian in contrast to Sebastian Stan, delving into a universe where they and the Winter Soldier had to flee the U.S. following Shostakov’s intervention that prevented Bucky from killing Howard Stark. The storyline of “Thunderbolts” involves these characters, along with other Marvel adversaries such as U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, Ghost, and a new recruit named Bob/Sentry, banding together after being tricked into an ambush. However, instead of working together, the group found themselves fighting against Sentry’s dark persona, the Void. Before moving on to “Doomsday”, the pair will voice alternate incarnations of their characters in a world where metahumans have been overrun by the undead.
Thunderbolts* premieres in theaters on May 2.
