Her carried a cream tuxedo jacket in his hand and wore a classy black bow tie to complete the look.
As I stood there, I couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement as I donned my stunning black sequin gown and slipped on my matching strappy heeled sandals.
With a sleek black belt tightening her waist, she finished off her look. Her brown hair was gathered neatly into an elegant ponytail.
At some point, David gently guided her down the stairs with a supportive hand on her arm.
The event was attended by several notable celebrities, including Kate Beckinsale and Shania Twain.
Katharine was seen mingling with Shania, 58, inside.

The excursion of David and Katharine occurs following criticism from some of her supporters after an old video re-emerged online, featuring David making a comment about Katharine’s weight.
A clip that sparked anger was originally shared on TikTok in March 2023. It came from a joint performance at a concert where Katharine spoke about her initial encounter with her future husband during the fifth season of American Idol in 2006.
In an amusing remark during a performance clip from a concert, the second-place contestant and performer, who is also an actress, jokingly commented that she was “considerably plumper” when she initially met David.
Instead of just gazing at the piano with a picture of his wife, who had expressed doubts about their significant age difference during their 35-year relationship, displayed behind it, David took it a step further and glanced at her image. (Or) Looking past the piano on the screen, where a photo of his wife from American Idol was projected, David paused to cast a glance in her direction despite her earlier reservations about their age difference.
‘Oh, yeah, you were fat,’ he said nonchalantly to laughter from the audience.
Katharine defensively replied, “I was just a bit overweight as a young person, alright?” However, many people found David’s remark inappropriate instead of humorous.
An analysis video from the prosecution after David’s statement in the initial video received a larger number of likes and sparked intense debate among TikTok users, who generally expressed strong disapproval towards David.
“This hit me deeply,” someone remarked. “That girl wasn’t ever overweight. You shouldn’t refer to your spouse as ‘fat,’ be it in jest or earnestly.”

Most people didn’t find it amusing when David made the comment, despite a few individuals believing he was just joking.
I strongly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness, especially when it comes to comments about their bodies. As someone who has experienced hurtful remarks from time to time, I can attest to the emotional pain they can cause, and it’s even more disheartening when those comments come from a loved one. No one’s body is a topic for joking, regardless of the intention behind it. We all have unique bodies that are part of who we are, and making fun of them can be damaging to someone’s self-esteem and overall wellbeing. It’s important to remember that our words have power, and we should use them to build each other up rather than tear each other down.
Some individuals questioned whether David would make more offensive remarks about his wife during private conversations, assuming he was prepared to disparage her publicly.
“If he feels comfortable making such remarks in public, then consider the unfiltered comments he may make privately towards Yolanda, his ex-wife,” one individual remarked, shedding light on Yolanda Hadid’s previous behavior.
Another person added, ‘That was awful. If he can say that on stage what does he say at home.’

Several people brought up Katharine’s past struggles with eating disorders when explaining why her husband’s remark was so painful to them.
Around 2006, not long after her participation in American Idol ended, she confessed to having experienced bulimia in the past.
After winning a place on the reality show, she chose to get help for her condition instead.
Despite overcoming some eating disorders, Katharine encountered more challenges during her pregnancy with Rennie David, their first child. At that time, she faced new difficulties with food issues. (age: Rennie is currently three)
On Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast, she shared her concern: The strong cravings and increased hunger she experienced during pregnancy might be similar to her past binge eating tendencies during her battles with bulimia.
Katharine disclosed that she resumed visits to the psychiatrist from her time on American Idol. She shared that this doctor advised her that bulimia is a condition that often causes relapses during pregnancy.
Some viewers on social media thought David was just kidding in the clip, but it seemed none of the commenters considered the possibility that his remark was premeditated.
There’s a doubt as to whether Katharine and David repeated their weight discussion in another performance, but many acts prepare or write scripted lines for seemingly spontaneous exchanges. This helps make conversations sound more authentic and smooth out potential uncomfortable situations.
Despite having first met on American Idol, it wasn’t until 2017 that Katharine began dating.
The lovebirds wed in 2019, and they went on to welcome Rennie David in February of 2021.
