David Byrne announces new album and a ton of new tour dates
If you’re a David Byrne enthusiast, these days are particularly exciting for you. On the other hand, if you’re responsible for scheduling his tours, you might be due for a bit of rest.
For enthusiasts, the news couldn’t be better! Byrne, known for his silence in the studio since 2018’s American Utopia, is all set to release a new album on September 5. Titled “Who is the Sky?”, this upcoming record boasts several guest appearances, including Hayley Williams from Paramore and St. Vincent.
The upcoming album will be orchestrated by Ghost Train Orchestra, a New York-based ensemble specializing in chamber music. However, it’s unlikely that the new record itself will be classified as a chamber piece. The first single off the album, titled “Everybody Laughs,” has been released and offers upbeat pop tunes, yet it deviates from the genre of chamber music.
David Byrne set to return with new album and huge tour
Following the album’s launch, a worldwide tour is planned. From September 14 to December 6, Byrne has scheduled performances across the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The specific dates for each event can be found below.
According to a recent statement, Byrne revealed that he’s been dividing his time between working on his 2018 album and recording the new one. During this period, he has taken up cooking various dishes such as Indian and Mexican cuisine, and has also been actively drawing. Excited fans eagerly await his return.
