David Boreanaz’s Reboot Of NBC’s 52-Year-Old Detective Series Gets First Impression From James Garner’s Daughter As Filming Begins

With the remake of the classic detective series The Rockford Files, starring David Boreanaz, now in production, the daughter of the original star, James Garner, has shared her thoughts.

The original series, The Rockford Files, ran from 1974 to 1980, and was followed by eight movies in the 1990s. Now, over 50 years later, actor Ed Boreanaz is taking on the role James Garner famously played: Jim Rockford, an ex-convict turned private detective.

Gigi Garner, daughter of the original Rockford Files star James Garner, has announced that production on the reboot is underway. She shared on X (formerly Twitter) that she was amazed by David Boreanaz’s ability to embody the same energy as her father in the role, saying he truly captured his spirit. While acknowledging fans may have mixed feelings about a remake, Gigi urged everyone to give the new show a chance and promised it will be worth watching.

They started shooting #TheRockfordFiles last week!

I was truly amazed watching David portray my dad – it was like seeing him come to life! I understand everyone has their own opinions, but I’d really appreciate it if you’d hold them until after you’ve seen the show.

PLEASE STAY TUNED!

More to come…
