David Beckham’s new festive ad is reported to authorities as viewers spot former footballer’s ‘lethal’ use of wood-fired oven
As a die-hard fan of David Beckham since his days as a Manchester United and England midfielder, I must say I’ve followed his journey with awe and admiration. From his footballing prowess to his fashion ventures and now his culinary adventures, Becks has always managed to captivate us all.
On Wednesday, an unexpected situation landed David Beckham in a sticky predicament, and this wasn’t related to the high-end coffee maker he endorses in a recent commercial.
Previously, the Manchester United and England midfielder is now representing Ninja kitchen appliances, but a recent ad has angered viewers, causing controversy for the well-known company.
In this holiday-themed ad spot, we see David Beckham, aged 49, struggling to prepare Christmas dinner all by himself due to a lack of time. However, he miraculously succeeds thanks to the efficient and useful Ninja kitchen appliances at his disposal.
However, employing a £350 wood-fired oven intended mainly for outdoor use led to the brand being brought under scrutiny by the Advertising Standards Authority.
According to the user instructions provided by the Ninja itself, it is not recommended for indoor use. When used under a covered area, harmful gases such as carbon monoxide could build up, potentially leading to severe physical harm or even death.
In simple terms, David Beckham secured a deal with Ninja, which is one of his recent high-value partnerships, valued at approximately £1 million, as revealed in May.
During his time playing football for teams like Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Paris Saint Germain throughout Europe, the ex-footballer discovered a love for cooking.
Previously, the close acquaintance Eva Longoria referred to David Beckham as an exceptional chef when he shared culinary advice about preparing a classic shepherd’s pie with her.
She shared on the Table Manners podcast that David is an excellent chef. She didn’t learn from him, but he revealed his secret tip: the key is using ketchup.
She noted: ‘He’s quite skilled at making Bolognese sauce. His love for cooking is evident on his Instagram.’
On Tuesday night, the Ninja controversy seemed to take a backseat as Beckham, together with his spouse Victoria, graced their first-ever state dinner at Buckingham Palace.
The Beckham family, who had been invited but the details remained a secret until the occasion started, mingled with King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, and Prince William at an extravagant gathering organized in honor of the Emir of Qatar, his consort, and their delegation.
Previously, the ex-captain of England seemed very comfortable at the Palace. He calmly and comfortingly held his fashion designer spouse’s hand, who looked somewhat anxious, as they walked through the East Gallery surrounded by nobility and distinguished guests.
It’s clear that Beckham received an invitation to attend a grand dinner due to his position as an ambassador for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
At one heartwarming instance, the former footballer, radiating with pride, walked purposefully through the halls of Buckingham Palace. In that moment, he offered his wife a reassuring hand as she seemed to require his support.
Last night, Beckham took on the role of his wife’s savior, shimmering like a knight, but yet again, his invite to the palace stirs speculation about whether he’s been paving the way for a knighthood.
Previously, Beckham has been part of numerous royal functions, such as receiving an OBE investiture in 2017 and attending the Queen’s Young Leaders event in 2018. However, the state banquet he recently attended marked his inaugural experience of this kind.
In June, the previous winger for Manchester United also assumed the position of ambassador for The King’s Foundation, which he expressed feeling privileged and honored to undertake.
This year, Beckham had a discussion with the King, focusing on their mutual interest in beekeeping. Additionally, he assisted Prince William in collecting funds for the London Air Ambulance.
