A previously unseen clip from David Beckham’s Netflix documentary shows him getting emotional as he expresses how proud he is of his children, surfacing as his son Brooklyn’s recent surprising statements continue to generate discussion.
Twenty-six-year-old Brooklyn, who hopes to become a chef, had a surprisingly angry outburst with his parents, David and Victoria, on Monday night.
He posted a six-page statement on Instagram explaining he doesn’t want to make amends with his family. He said he’s finally asserting himself, and believes his parents have always dictated how the family’s story is told.
He explained that his parents have consistently attempted to sabotage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz, starting even before their wedding, and that this behavior continues to this day.
This situation feels especially tense when you consider how warmly David spoke about all of his children in his 2023 documentary, BECKHAM.
It really got to me when he talked about his kids. He admitted they could be difficult, but then he said, with real emotion, that they weren’t, and that’s why he felt so proud. It was a genuinely touching moment, and you could see how much he loved them.
‘And I’m so in awe of my children, the way they’ve turned out,’ David added in the emotional scene.
In addition to David’s emotional confession, the episode showed him cooking alongside Brooklyn.
Victoria has yet to comment on her son’s statement on Monday.
Sources say the situation has left her heartbroken, as the already strained relationship with her son appears to have become irreparable.
Brooklyn and Nicola Beckham haven’t attended important family events lately, causing a rift within the family. This includes missing his father Sir David’s 50th birthday and the celebration of his knighthood, highlighting a growing distance between them.
Brooklyn Beckham said in a recent statement that growing up, his family prioritized their public image over everything else. He also shared that being with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, has helped him find calm and overcome severe anxiety.
Brooklyn explained that his family prioritizes public image and sponsorships above everything else, putting the ‘Beckham brand’ first.
These days, it seems like ‘family love’ is measured by how much we share online or how readily we rearrange our lives for picture-perfect moments, even if it means sacrificing work or other commitments.
It’s a misunderstanding to say my wife controls me. Actually, I’ve been the one controlled for most of my life – by my parents.
I used to struggle with intense anxiety, but surprisingly, it’s gone away since I moved away from my family. Now, I wake up each day feeling thankful for the life I’ve built and finally experiencing peace and calm.
My wife and I simply want a peaceful, private life, and happiness for our family – we don’t want to be defined by what people think or what the media says about us.
Since Brooklyn made his announcement, Victoria hasn’t been seen publicly. However, David Beckham was confronted with questions from the press yesterday while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Okay, so he totally avoided talking about it – you know, the drama! – when people directly asked him. But then, get this, he went on and on about kids and social media, which was… weirdly relevant, considering everything. It was almost like he was hinting at something, but refusing to actually say it! I’ve rewatched the clip like ten times trying to decode it, honestly.
During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, he explained that he’s been teaching his children about the potential risks of social media, while also highlighting its positive aspects and how it can be used responsibly.
He explained that he’s often discussed how social media can be both a powerful force for good and a source of problems.
The former Manchester United player explained that his fame and role with Unicef have allowed him to highlight the challenges children face around the world.
He added: ‘I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them.
‘They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn.’
David recorded a podcast interview with bestselling author Adam Grant, but he firmly avoided answering any questions about Brooklyn.
