Sir David Beckham set aside personal family issues on Tuesday to fulfill his promotional duties in the Arabian Peninsula.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Sir Anish Kapoor just left for Qatar! Can you believe it? He’s going before Art Basel even starts in Doha’s amazing Design District next month! I’m seriously counting down the days – seeing his work there is going to be incredible. I’m already obsessed!
Sir David, age 50, traded the UK’s cold winter for the warmer weather of Qatar. He dressed for the climate in a relaxed, light-colored linen suit.
The retired Manchester United and England player is seemingly working another promotional job in the Middle East, following criticism he received for a £10 million agreement to promote the 2024 Qatar World Cup.
Sir David was challenged on Tuesday to capture the best possible photo of Doha, Qatar, as part of a collaboration between Art Basel and the country’s tourism board, Visit Qatar. He was given an hour and a half to complete the task.
The former soccer player, along with a photographer, took pictures at several popular spots in Doha, and happily took selfies with fans he met along the way.

Sir David recently traveled abroad while his family is dealing with a significant disagreement. This has led to his eldest son, Brooklyn, and Brooklyn’s wife, actress Nicola Peltz, not attending important family gatherings for almost a year – including the ceremony where Sir David received his honor at Windsor Castle.
Sir David reportedly invited the couple to both the ceremony and the celebratory dinner afterward at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Chelsea, but they turned down the invitation.
Instead, the former soccer player’s three children, along with his parents, Ted and Sandra, and his wife, a fashion designer, attended the ceremony in Berkshire without him.
According to The Sun, Brooklyn, who lives in the US with his actress wife, declined the offer because he believed it was a publicity stunt.
Brooklyn and Nicola have now missed several important family events this year, including Sir David’s 50th birthday and the premiere of his mother’s Netflix series. This latest occasion marks another absence for the couple.
Last summer, the Beckhams experienced a significant rift in their family, reportedly so severe that Brooklyn asked his parents to communicate with him through his legal representation, according to a report in the Daily Mail on Thursday.
Instead of speaking directly, the son and his parents communicated through their lawyers – Schillings represented the son, and Harbottle & Lewis represented the parents.
Ugh, it’s been a week, and everyone’s walking on eggshells! All their publicists and mutual friends are totally clammed up, refusing to say anything about it. They’re desperately hoping it all just blows over and gets fixed, you know? It’s like they’re trying to pretend it’s not happening, but I know it is, and I’m obsessively following every little detail!

According to one source, David was instructed to communicate with them only through the law firm Schillings; it was the sole method of contact allowed.
Despite his strained relationship with his parents, he’s reportedly stayed in touch with his grandparents on both sides, as well as Victoria’s parents, Tony and Jackie, and David’s parents, Ted and Sandra.
According to a source, Brooklyn feels deeply for everyone involved and understands how upsetting this situation is.
He eventually got in touch, but wanted to avoid involving others and kept it private.
Brooklyn is trying to cope with a really difficult family conflict, and it’s hard for everyone involved. Nicola continues to be his main source of support.
