Dave Myers’ Widow Liliana Finds Strength and Learns to Ride After His Death
Liliana, Dave Myers’ wife, shares that she’s discovered her strength and ability to express herself effectively since dedicating time to personal growth following the passing of her husband a year ago.
In February 2024, the well-known television chef, often recognized alongside Si King in their cooking duo, lost his life after a long struggle with cancer that spanned two years.
As someone who relocated to the United Kingdom alongside Dave in 2007, I, Liliana, have candidly shared my personal experiences and struggles following the heartrending loss of my beloved husband.
In her latest post, Lilian discussed discovering her identity apart from her deceased partner, a topic she also explores in her recently published memoir titled “Dave & Me”.
As a dedicated admirer, let me share a heartfelt confession: I once found myself feeling like an outsider when I relocated to this new place. In my struggle to adapt, I leaned heavily on a remarkable individual named Dave. Not only did I develop deep affection for him, but I also nurtured his aspirations and career growth, as a loving caretaker would.

Yet, following a ‘transformative performance’, she has been compelled to adapt to life without Dave. Surprisingly, she has discovered her inner strength in the process.
In her latest social media update, Lilian posted a photo showing herself with a physical copy of her newly published book, accompanied by this caption: ‘I relocated houses, nations, switched languages, and adapted to an entirely new way of living… all in the pursuit of love.’
At certain moments, I felt like an outsider, insufficient, unworthy, and without a voice… I embraced him with love and care, nurturing both him and his pursuits. Unfortunately, my partner passed away.
‘All of the sudden everything I knew to be comfortable and familiar around collapsed.
At the same time as mourning my loss, I found myself on a journey of self-discovery. This path required me to delve into my inner depths, reawakening my resilience, my beliefs, and finding my true voice.
In the challenging and evolutionary journey, my voice emerged, initially timid and unsure. Over time, it grew steadier and more confident.
I’ve written a book! Today, I got the first physical copy and I couldn’t be prouder! This book explores themes of love, loss, and resilience. It’s my very own book! Yes, I can do it!
A significant aspect of Lilian’s experiences involves mastering the art of riding a motorcycle, an ability that was previously unnecessary due to Dave taking care of the driving duties.

Lately, Liliana posted a photo showing herself riding a motorbike with a learner permit, disclosing that she has made efforts to hit the roads on her two-wheeler.
Tomorrow, she admitted that she’ll be facing her motorbike theory test, confessing that she finds it terrifying. Earlier today, she ventured onto the road to gauge her readiness for the challenge.
To be honest, it doesn’t feel instinctive for me; I need to practice and make an effort. Pleased to say I’m doing well and staying secure. Excitedly looking forward to obtaining my full license, hoping it will be before Dave Day!
Prior to his passing, she mentioned that Dave had often inspired her to learn how to ride a bicycle independently, along with various other tasks he’d always taken care of for her.
Pondering over his suggestion, she replied: “When he mentioned learning to ride a bike, I reminded him that it’s something we both can do together, as I enjoy our shared bike rides too much…
When he suggested that I should stick to recipes and prepare good food, I responded: “Ah, my dear, the food you’re preparing for me is already marvelous… The kitchen, it seems, belongs to you.
When Dave suggested, “Lil, try to go out and discover more on your own,” I replied, “Dave, my life revolves around you, the shared adventures we have mean a lot to me and I cherish who I am with you. I don’t feel the need for more.

In hindsight, he seemed to be correct while I was mistaken. This realization came to me when I found myself having to manage everything on my own after losing him. It’s painful now, looking back, knowing that I had declined his help then.
I’m sharing these thoughts with you as they have taught me a significant lesson, and I hope they spark motivation within you: Embrace the opportunity to act, feel, exist, express affection, and savor everything personally. Be courageous and fearless, don’t allow yourself to be overshadowed by someone else’s aspirations.
‘Have your own dreams and fulfil them for yourself!’
Lili first met the TV personality in 2005, while he was working on location in her native Romania.
Prior to their romantic relationship, they corresponded regularly as friends, and later, Myers took on the role of her children’s stepfather from a previous union.
The bike that The Hairy Bikers’ last ride was on has just been auctioned off for an impressive amount in the tens of thousands, and the funds are being donated to two different charitable organizations.
Lili Myers shared that she hoped her last motorbike, the one seen on BBC’s Hairy Bikers Go West, would end up in a caring and suitable environment.
At the National Motorcycle Museum close to Solihull, the BSA Goldstar was auctioned off, fetching an impressive £15,800. The earnings from this sale were donated to two different charities.
Regarding the sale, Lilian shared with the BBC: “The bike still carries his genetic material… I truly, deeply wish that the one who buys it cherishes it.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t help but feel overjoyed witnessing the affection this bicycle is receiving. I’m confident that its new owner will develop the same deep-rooted affection for it that Dave had.
Si Harrison, a pal of Dave’s, became the new owner of the motorbike, and the earnings from the sale are earmarked for charity organizations: NSPCC Childline and CancerCare North Lancashire & South Cumbria.
Harrison expressed that purchasing the vehicle was incredibly significant to him, and he was excited to take it out on Dave Day, a special occasion where bike enthusiasts unite to honor Myers.
He expressed that there wasn’t another bike he’d prefer over the one he’s on, and the thought of cycling with Dave Day held tremendous significance for him.
