Dave Hughes explodes in unhinged rant after Logies snub: ‘The amount of losers in that room’
As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Dave Hughes‘ reaction to not receiving an invite to the 2024 Logies is quite relatable and understandable. With his extensive history hosting the event and giving the opening monologue for several consecutive years, it’s no wonder he feels a tad overlooked. It seems like the Logies might have missed out on some good laughs this year without him!
Dave Hughes has exploded after he didn’t get an invite to the 2024 Logies.
On Tuesday, the 53-year-old comedian made an appearance on Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick. During his visit, he referred to this year’s celebrity attendees as a group of individuals who didn’t fare well or succeeded.
After being snubbed with an uninvited offer, Hughesy passionately expressed his disappointment, pointing out that he had previously hosted the event four times, but this time around, he was not considered.
In 2007, he co-hosted the Logie Awards alongside Fifi Box, while from 2016 to 2019, he delivered the opening remarks for the Logies.
As a devoted fan, I’ve always cherished taking part in the Logies. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive an invitation this past Sunday. Consequently, I found myself comfortably at home instead.
The comedian then began yelling about not getting an invite.
As your trusted lifestyle guide, let me share an eye-opening experience I recently had: Four times consecutively, I extended invitations to an event, only to be met with deafening silence. No response, no acknowledgement! It was as if I were speaking to a room full of wallflowers! The number of individuals who seemed to have misplaced their social etiquette left me quite perplexed.
‘I presented for twenty years in a row and didn’t even get an invite!’
Host Brendan Fevola then tried to reason with Dave.
‘You’ve got no shows on TV though, why would you get invited?’
However, Hughesy countered by stating that, even though he doesn’t have a hosting role, his presence can be found everywhere on TV.
‘Mate, I pop up on things. I. POP. UP. ON. THINGS. I’m a pop up guy!’
Hughesy isn’t the only Australian celebrity who didn’t make it to this year’s Logies.
Today’s show reporter, Karl Stefanovic, was absent because he was celebrating his 50th birthday outside of Sydney, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.
It’s reported that David Koch, a prominent figure on Channel Seven whose contract may be ending, and Mark Ferguson, who might be leaving the news desk, were absent from the event as well.
After the contentious 2022 Logies speech, during which Lisa Wilkinson spoke about Brittany Higgins’ alleged rape, she decided to abstain from making an appearance.
Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Ricki Lee-Coulter from Australian Idol, and Sylvia Jeffreys chose not to attend the Logie Awards ceremony.
