Dave Franco breaks silence on Luigi Mangione biopic rumors after fans begged for star to play ‘CEO killer’

It has been disclosed that Dave Franco has now shared his thoughts on portraying the suspected CEO killer, Luigi Mangione, on-screen – as fans became increasingly excited due to their striking similarities.

According to reports, on December 4, Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was tragically shot and killed by Mangione, aged 27, while he was en route to an investor meeting in downtown Manhattan.

Mangione denies the allegations, having been charged with both state and federal offenses, stemming from the murder that occurred in December.

Last year, when the college student with anti-capitalist leanings was initially arrested by police, spectators started noticing a striking resemblance between him and Franco, aged 40, leading to widespread speculation that prolific TV writer Ryan Murphy might develop a show around his life.

On Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live!, Franco expressed some uncertainty about potentially playing Mangione, saying something along the lines of “Now, how should I respond to that?” or “What a tricky question! Let me think about it.

So far, no one has discussed this with me. However, I must say that this topic seems to have garnered more attention from people in my life than any other event or issue.

‘Let’s just say I’m open if the right people… and let’s just leave it at that.’

During the ongoing search for the shooter, people joked on platform X about Franco potentially portraying him in a movie.

One said: ‘Dave Franco pick up the phone.’

Another posted: ‘Dave Franco has a role waiting for him once this inevitably becomes a movie.’

A third wrote: ‘Ryan Murphy is drafting an email to Dave Franco as we speak.’

‘Dave Franco’s agent has been on the phone all morning,’ a fourth added.

Mangione was recently granted a major perk behind bars as he awaits trial.

He has been given access to a laptop to use in jail in preparation of the murder trial.

As a diligent follower, I will receive my laptop every day of the week, directly from the government, with usage hours set between 8am and 4pm, according to the New York Post’s recent report.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Margaret M. Garnett issued an order instructing the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to initiate measures for safeguarding a specific laptop.

According to Mangione’s legal team, comprising of Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Marc Agnifilo, and Jacob Kaplan, the letter is crucial as it will aid Mangione in effectively preparing for the upcoming trial and provide him with resources to defend himself.

However, it was unveiled by Mangione’s legal team that the laptop would no longer be able to connect to the internet or any wireless connections.

Or, more concisely:
Mangione’s lawyers disclosed that the laptop would lose its ability to access the internet and wireless networks.

The setup will involve case-related documents and videos that have been given to Mangione’s legal team by the government.

The red diary discovered on Mangione during his arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, following a five-day search, has provided some understanding regarding his suspected intentions.

According to court documents, the diary records Mangione’s thoughts about the errors Ted Kaczynski made during his violent period from 1978 to 1995, regarding the Unabomber case.

On August 15, 2024, Mangione expresses optimism regarding his strategy, stating that he views it as valid and justifiable, approximately four months prior to the incident.

Now, I feel assured about my plans, as they’re gradually falling into place. There’s no lingering uncertainty about the validity or appropriateness of what I’m doing.

It turns out that putting off the task was beneficial, as it gave me additional time to explore UnitedHealthcare in greater depth.

‘The target is insurance. It checks every box.’

On October 10, 2024, approximately two months later, Mangione reportedly noted a countdown in his diary for the day of the attack: ‘approximately one and a half months remaining.’

In his lengthy journal entry, Mangione labels individuals within the healthcare sector as ‘leech-like’ and ‘mafia-esque’, and he considers UnitedHealthcare’s December meeting to be an exceptional opportunity (or ‘true windfall’) that encapsulates all that is problematic with our current health system.

If Mangione is convicted, federal prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty.
