Dave Filoni says he's writing Ahsoka season 2, calls it a "challenge"

As a seasoned Star Wars fan with over two decades of fandom under my belt, I can confidently say that Dave Filoni’s work on Ahsoka season 2 is a cause for both anticipation and apprehension. With his rich background in writing, directing, and creating some of the most beloved Star Wars content, he has certainly set the bar high.

Dave Filoni knows he has his work cut out for him as he continues to write Ahsoka season 2.

The creator of Ahsoka is actively engaged in writing season 2 and has revealed that he alone handles the scriptwriting for this project, but admits it’s a demanding task, as shared during an interview with Extra TV.

Filoni discussed his experiences in crafting the second season for Ahsoka Tano’s series, bringing back fan favorites from Star Wars Rebels such as Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrellios, Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Ezra Bridger.

As a devoted fan, I’m finding it quite a thrill to be part of this exciting writing journey alongside Filoni. He openly acknowledges that it’s a formidable task for him to navigate these storylines, given the immense curiosity among fans about where these narratives are headed.

The creator, director, and present-day Chief Creative Officer of Star Wars at Lucasfilm expresses his satisfaction and enjoys the current state of things. Filoni shares his eagerness to collaborate with Rosario Dawson once more during season 2.

Regarding the arcs Filoni alluded to, the second season will explore several of them, including Peridea and Baylan Skol’s power there. Fans are eager to learn more about this since Ahsoka Tano and her Padawan, Sabine, were left stranded on Peridea at the end of Season 1, and everyone is curious about what they’ll face there. The colossal statues of the Mortis Gods serve as a significant clue about upcoming events, and integrating the Mortis Gods mythology into live-action presents a considerable challenge. These deities were previously addressed in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

In the second season of Ahsoka, we can anticipate unveiling more details about Grand Admiral Thrawn’s strategy, including his alliance with the Great Mothers, as well as how Ezra Bridger and Hera Syndulla aim to thwart him. Additionally, there’s a chance that Hayden Christensen will reappear in season 2, following his brief but impactful cameo as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in episode 5, titled “Shadow Warrior.

Dave Filoni says he's writing Ahsoka season 2, calls it a "challenge"

Filoni appears both enthusiastic and careful about season 2, which could be a good sign for fans. This cautious attitude, coupled with his awareness of the high expectations, suggests that the end result will be top-notch. After all, Ahsoka is one of Filoni’s favorite creations, and he’s well aware of the significance of this new season for her character. It seems that Filoni is determined not to disappoint and doesn’t appear to be taking any unnecessary risks.

Amidst significant adjustments at Disney and Lucasfilm as they prioritize films over original series for Disney+ and high-budget productions like “The Acolyte” being axed after a single season, Filoni faces increased expectations to excel with “Ahsoka” Season 2. The success of his Mandoverse crossover film could hinge on it.

Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+.
