The first trailer is out for The Wrecking Crew, the new action-comedy film with Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, and the movie hits theaters in just three weeks!

The movie features Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa as James and Jonny, two half-brothers brought together again after their father’s unexpected death. Bautista plays James, a focused Navy SEAL, while Momoa is Jonny, a more laid-back police officer.

The story follows a search for the truth that brings long-hidden secrets to light and challenges family bonds. This discovery reveals a dangerous conspiracy with the potential to destroy everything they hold dear. Determined to protect themselves, they’re prepared to overcome any obstacle.

Ángel Manuel Soto, the director behind films like Blue Beetle and Charm City Kings, is directing the new action-comedy. Jonathan Tropper, known for his work on Banshee and Your Friends and Neighbours, wrote the script.

I recently read an interview with Jason Momoa, director David Trooper, and writer Chris Soto in Esquire. They were talking about the new movie, and the director hinted that a big part of the story is about the characters dealing with their father’s death – figuring that out is what’s really going to be at the heart of everything, and it’s going to be a really emotional journey for them.

Sibling rivalry is naturally funny, and there’s a lot of comedic potential there. But when I’m considering a script, I look for three things: a good story, genuine emotion, and a deeper message or commentary about life.

Jason is spontaneous and unpredictable, while Dave is more focused, deliberate, and builds intensity gradually. They’re both physically imposing, but as people, they have very different personalities.

The Wrecking Crew will stream on Prime Video on 28 January.
