Dark thriller with Andrew Scott and Sheridan Smith “that creeps up on you” gets new UK home

The chilling thriller *The Scapegoat*, featuring Andrew Scott and Sheridan Smith, is now available to stream in the UK. The story, set in 1950s England, centers on John Standing, an out-of-work teacher played by Matthew Rhys, who unexpectedly encounters his identical twin, Johnny Spence – also played by Rhys – at a hotel.

So, this guy Johnny got me totally wasted, and I woke up completely stranded – no clothes, no wallet, and Johnny had vanished! To make things worse, I ended up stuck living the life of my look-alike, who apparently had a *lot* of problems. It was a total mess, and I didn’t ask for any of it!

This dark thriller stars Matthew Rhys and Sheridan Smith in a story about a stolen identity. When a man encounters his exact look-alike, things quickly take a dangerous turn.

Okay, so *The Scapegoat* originally came out on ITV way back in 2012, but good news for me and other fans of Ewan McGregor and Tom Hiddleston – it’s finally on Prime Video in the UK! I can finally watch it whenever I want, as long as I’m subscribed, of course.

Although critics haven’t yet rated the TV movie on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers have given it a strong 79% rating based on more than 250 reviews.

Okay, so I just finished watching this movie, and it’s not one that hits you over the head right away. It’s really subtle, but it slowly gets under your skin – it’s both charming and kinda unsettling. What’s cool is how it mixes huge, world-changing events with just the everyday stuff happening to a normal family in England. It’s a really interesting contrast.

I was completely blown away by this movie! Seriously, everything – the way it looked, how it was directed, the acting, and the story itself – was just top-notch. I went in not knowing what to expect, since I hadn’t read the original Daphne du Maurier book, and it totally surprised me. It was so gripping, we were all on the edge of our seats, and honestly, I was a little bummed when the credits rolled because I didn’t want it to end!

A fan highly praised Matthew Rhys’s performance in the film, noting his incredible range. They said he convincingly portrayed both kind, gentle characters and truly villainous ones, making him perfectly suited for the role.

Another viewer praised the film as enjoyable, noting its well-managed pace and engaging story. They also highlighted strong performances, particularly from Matthew Rhys.

The Scapegoat is now streaming on Prime Video in the UK.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
