Fans of FromSoftware games can now follow a new character’s journey in an exciting new comic book series, as they strive to restore hope to a fading world.
Titan Comics is launching a new, dark story created by George Mann and artist Maan House, the team behind the popular Dark Souls: The Willow King. Based on the acclaimed FromSoftware video game series, the comic will be released in December 2025. The covers will feature artwork by Bjorn Barends, Warrick Wong, and The Knott, with Maan House handling the interior art. You can see a preview of the covers and the series’ eerie artwork below.

What Can Fans Expect From the Dark Souls Spin-Off?
According to a recent press release, the new book, Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning, will center around a group of knights on a quest that fans of the Dark Souls games will recognize. The story will take place in the iconic, dark, and gothic environments that made the Dark Souls universe so popular.
Look, things are pretty rough for us Knights of Mourning. Hope comes and goes, honestly. But we’re all-in on this one last shot we have at turning things around. It’s everything or nothing at this point.
Desperate for a hero to save their kingdom, the knights seek help from the Mother of Lillies – a legendary, yet lifeless, saint rumored to have the power to restore peace and order.
The knights are convinced that her spirit will return to life, restoring her as the champion they desperately need to lead them to peace. However, a growing instability threatens each knight, and this hoped-for outcome may not be as perfect as they imagined.
As a huge Dark Souls fan, I was immediately drawn into this comic! Mann and House really get the world – they’ve clearly built on the awesome mythology from the games, especially after their The Willow King series. That previous story followed a servant of a fallen king as he assembled a team to try and rekindle the First Flame. What I’m really excited about in this new series is the addition of the mysterious Mother of Lillies. She brings a creepy, horror vibe that makes me wonder if the Order isn’t as noble as they seem – I have a feeling there’s more to their mission than meets the eye!
As a huge Dark Souls fan, I’m really excited about Mother of Mourning! It’s a brand new story set in that dark, decaying world we all love from the games, and it feels like it truly captures the atmosphere. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic addition to the lore, and I think any fan of the series will absolutely have to read it!
The comic Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning will be released on December 3rd, 2023, and will be available in the UK and Europe.
