are headed for uncharted territory courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.

Dark Horse Comics and Mattel are teaming up this summer to reveal a fresh take on the world of Eternia with the release of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate #1. This first issue in a four-part series, created by writer Tim Sheridan, artist Will Sliney, and colorist Israel Silva, will tell a new story set within the same universe as the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie.

Following Skeletor’s attack on Eternos, a struggling refugee finds and shelters an injured falcon. To save the bird’s life, he must undertake a dangerous quest through the Mystic Mountains, hoping to find help from the legendary people of Avion.

I’m so excited for the new Masters of the Universe movie! And now, there’s a comic book tie-in! He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate #1 is coming out as the first comic connected to the film, which is a collaboration between Amazon MGM, Mattel Studios, and Escape Artists. The movie, starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5th. I can’t wait to see him transform!

He-Man Is Making The Leap Into Live Action

The movie features a strong cast including Galitzine, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops. Charlotte Riley, James Purefoy, and Morena Baccarin complete the main cast, playing Queen Marlena, King Randor, and the Sorceress, respectively, in Masters of the Universe.

Last year at CinemaCon, viewers got a first look at footage from the new Masters of the Universe movie, along with some of the actual props and sets used during filming. Reports indicated the movie has been modernized, but still features many costumes and designs inspired by the original cartoon series.

The first issue of the Dark Horse Comics series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate, will be available for purchase on June 10th. The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on June 5th.
