Daredevil: Born Again sets a big March premiere date on Disney+

As a seasoned gamer of Marvel’s intricate universe, I’ve been following Daredevil’s journey with bated breath since his inception in 1963. The Man Without Fear has always been more than just a superhero to me; he’s a symbol of resilience, justice, and the indomitable human spirit.

The highly anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again” now has a confirmed release date. Here’s when you can witness the Man Without Fear grace Disney+!

1963 saw the birth of Daredevil, one of Marvel’s most outstanding characters. For those new to this universe, young Matt Murdock encountered radioactive substances accidentally, leading to blindness. Yet, this incident also bestowed upon him heightened senses and a unique “radar sense,” enabling him to navigate his surroundings in an unconventional manner.

In response to his boxing dad being denied a fix and getting killed by gangsters, Matt sought justice. Later, as a lawyer, Matt assumed the role of Daredevil to battle numerous wrongdoers. This character reached a peak in the early 1980s under the pen of writer/artist Frank Miller, who made him grittier and more formidable while introducing his main adversary, mob boss the Kingpin, and the enigmatic Elektra.

2003 saw a movie adaptation of the character on the big screen, with Ben Affleck in the starring role. However, the film was met with disappointing reviews. Fast forward to 2015, Netflix revived this character for its inaugural Marvel series, featuring Charlie Cox as the main protagonist and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin. This series received widespread praise from critics and comic book enthusiasts alike, paving the way for spin-off shows such as Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders.

As a devoted fan, I was deeply invested in the Marvel series on Netflix that spanned over three seasons. The anticipation for Season 4 was high, but unfortunately, Netflix decided to scrap the entire Marvel line-up due to Disney’s desire to control the characters. This initial cancellation left me wondering if Krysten Ritter’s days as Jessica Jones or Charlie Cox’s time as Matt Murdock were over. However, fate had other plans! Cox made a surprise reappearance first in a cameo for Spider-Man: No Way Home and later in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Interestingly, the new yellow suit that Daredevil donned in this series gave him a fresh, vibrant look.

Plans for the series “Daredevil: Born Again” faced a significant setback towards the end of 2023. Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who had been in charge, didn’t seem to align with Marvel executives regarding the show’s direction. Their focus on Matt as a lawyer instead of Daredevil in the suit until episode 4 reportedly caused dissatisfaction. As a result, they were replaced by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who previously worked on “Loki.

It does seem this leads to some big turns and now we know when the new show is coming!

When does Daredevil: Born Again hit?

At the New York Comic Convention, Cox and D’Onofrio unexpectedly showed up to unveil a sneak peek of a trailer for the audience. They also disclosed that the nine-episode series will be available on Disney+ from March 4, 2025 (Tuesday).

For the moment, the specific plot is being kept under wraps. The title refers to an iconic Daredevil tale, a 1986 masterpiece penned by Miller, in which the Kingpin uncovers Matt’s hidden identity with the intent of ruining his life.

According to various sources, the trailer suggests a return of several characters from the series: Foggy Nelson (played by Elden Henson), Karen Page (portrayed by Deborah Ann Woll), the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Marvel’s notorious vigilante, and FBI agent Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel) who appears to be transitioning into DD’s nemesis Bullseye.

The trailer also shows newer Daredevil enemy Muse and Kamar de los Reyes is shown in costume as the crimefighter White Tiger. There are rumors of appearances by other Marvel Netflix actors like Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, but nothing is confirmed. The plot also hints at adapting a recent storyline where the Kingpin manages to become Mayor of New York.

More information is on its way, including the launch timeline and additional previews, but Marvel enthusiasts should prepare for the character known as “The Man Without Fear” to undergo a transformation called “Born Again” in March.

Daredevil Seasons 1-3 streaming on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 4, 2025.
