Darby Allin is the man to eventually defeat Jon Moxley
As a seasoned gamer who has seen more wrestling storylines than I can count, I have to say that AEW’s current angle with Jon Moxley and Darby Allin is one of the most intriguing ones in recent memory. I’ve been following wrestling since the Attitude Era, and I must admit, the parallels between Sting and Darby Allin are uncanny.
At the finale of AEW World’s End, Jon Moxley will keep his AEW World Championship title against Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and “Hangman” Adam Page in a storyline where these three are trying to prevent Moxley from molding AEW according to his vision. Yet, they won’t succeed, as it is ultimately Darby Allin who will emerge victorious and vanquish Moxley.
AEW is shaping Darby Allin to become a standout figure within their promotion. Since his signing in 2019, they’ve carefully nurtured him for the spotlight, as evidenced by his well-protected debut and subsequent matches. He even teamed up with wrestling legend Sting during Sting’s farewell tour, and it looks like he will now emulate that iconic figure in the current storyline.
Back in the day, I was just like Sting, standing tall against the dominance of a powerful faction when everyone else in WCW seemed to bend to their will. Now, as Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir wreak havoc across AEW, it feels like history is repeating itself. But this time, I’m Darby Allin – one of the first to stand up and say no. Remember when they handcuffed me in the ring and sent Bryan Danielson into retirement? That was a dark moment, but it only fueled my fire. I can feel it building, and I know deep down that I’m the one who will eventually take them down.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but reflect on an intriguing angle: It was none other than Allin who paved the way for Moxley to take on Danielson, leading to the incredible feats that ultimately earned the future Hall of Famer his accolades. If Allin hadn’t stepped up to that challenge and fallen short, it’s possible that Moxley might never have gotten his title shot at all. These plot points provide rich material for crafting Allin as the one who will eventually drive the Death Riders out for good.
The four-cornered bout at World’s End promises an exciting spectacle. Each competitor aiming to thwart Moxley sparks intrigue, but remember, Darby Allin will be the central figure in this narrative. This storyline is tailor-made to catapult him into his first reign as AEW World Champion, and that achievement may well mean dethroning Jon Moxley.
