Darby Allin did not need to win the AEW Royal Rampage match
As a long-time fan of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the meteoric rise of many talented performers gracing their roster. Darby Allin is one such name that stands out, having been part of AEW since its inception and rightly earning his place as a fan favorite and home-grown talent.
At All Elite Wrestling, there’s an impressive lineup of skilled performers. Some of the greatest pros in wrestling today call it home. With such an abundance of talent, it’s puzzling why the company frequently relies on a few familiar faces. Darby Allin didn’t need to win the Royal Rampage match for a chance at the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam because of this repetition in star usage.
I’m a big fan of Darby Allin, and let me tell you, he’s made quite an impact in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). When AEW was just starting to take shape, Darby was one of the first names they signed. Cody Rhodes even highlighted him as someone they could build around for the future. Fans have come to know him as one of the foundational figures of this promotion. He’s a rising star within the organization and can be proudly labeled as home-grown talent. At just 31 years old, he’s on his way to achieving great things, and it’s not hard to see why.
Despite the recent tensions between Allin and Perry, it was surprising to see Allin win the Royal Rampage on July 27 and earn a chance at the TNT Championship. This came shortly after he threatened to set Perry on fire during All In and forced the Young Bucks to grant him a title shot. Just prior to that, Allin had an altercation with Swerve Strickland during a backstage segment, making it clear that Perry now has Allin in his sights as a contender for the championship. It’s puzzling why the company would give Allin another significant moment and title opportunity so soon after these developments.
As a gamer, I’m hyped up about the upcoming showdown between Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson at AEW All-In. This match could be a game-changer for both of them – it’s Danielson’s shot at finally securing the gold or a defining victory for Strickland. With Allin as the next contender, Tony Khan might reveal his plans, but it’s still uncertain.
Darby Allin claimed victory at the Royal Rampage for the second year in a row, immediately following his acquisition of two additional title opportunities. Tony Khan didn’t feel pressed to make this scheduling choice with all the gifted athletes present on the roster.
