Danny Dyer’s forgotten drama with Martin Compston lands new UK streaming home

Danny Dyer’s early film, 7 Lives, from 2011, is now available to stream in the UK. Made before he became famous on EastEnders, the movie centers on a man attacked by a gang.

He then finds himself living through different lives – as a famous musician, someone without a home, and a criminal – and while dealing with his deepest wants and anxieties, he starts to rethink his life and whether to go back home.

Good news for anyone wanting to watch the movie – it just dropped on Prime Video yesterday! If you’re a subscriber, you can check it out without paying anything extra. I’m gonna fire it up tonight, actually!

I was stoked to see the cast list for 7 Lives – it’s got Martin Compston from Line of Duty, Kate Ashfield who was in Lazarus, Nick Brimble, you might know him from Grantchester, and even Michael Elwyn from House of the Dragon! Seriously, a pretty awesome lineup.

Fans had varying reactions to the movie, with some highlighting the strong acting and captivating story, and ultimately recommending it.

One viewer said it was okay to watch, but a bit confusing. They explained that while 7 Lives isn’t a great film, it’s perfectly acceptable if you have just under two hours to kill.

While many enjoyed it, some viewers found the show’s promising premise ultimately disappointing. One fan explained that “7 Lives” quickly loses focus, telling a confusing and aimless story that doesn’t connect with the main character or make much sense to the audience.

One viewer called the film “one of the worst I’ve ever seen,” while another simply described it as “awful, truly awful.”

Elsewhere, actor Dyer will appear in a new Channel 4 thriller called The Siege. The show is based on the real events of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in London, and follows the secret planning of a rescue mission by the SAS.

This thrilling and moving series, based on Ben Macintyre’s book, features a talented cast including David Morrissey, Motaz Malhees, Omid Djalili, Nicola Stephenson, Sean Pertwee, Asim Chaudhry, Moe Bar-El, Aneurin Barnard, Mark Bonnar, and Gwilym Lee.

7 Lives is streaming now on Prime Video.
