Danny Dyer says he was left ‘chubby and constipated’ after being ‘encouraged to gorge on junk food’ for Rivals role

Danny Dyer admitted to gaining a stone in weight after eating twelve sausages every day while filming the second season of Rivals.

The 48-year-old actor, who plays the successful businessman Freddie Jones in the Disney+ series based on Jilly Cooper’s novel, admitted he’s been eating mostly junk food, leaving him feeling bloated and backed up.

The star-studded cast wrapped up filming this week, ahead of the first six episodes airing in May.

Danny explained his unhealthy eating habits by saying he was deeply committed to his role, believing his character, Fred, needed to appear overweight.

Danny Dyer recently shared on his podcast, ‘Live and Let Dyers,’ that he fully immerses himself in his roles. He explained that while playing the character Fred Fred, he gained a full stone in weight.

When Dani questioned if he’d been surviving on fast food like KFC and McDonald’s, he responded that his character, Fred Fred, is supposed to be a little chubby. He explained that’s how he envisioned the character, and admitted his own diet hadn’t been great.

‘I was living on my jack in Bristol, living off Deliveroos.

I used to buy sausages in packs of twelve, but they spoil quickly. I ended up cooking all twelve at once – not every night, of course, or I wouldn’t have lasted long!

I cooked a bunch of sausages and made myself a sandwich, but you could only fit about five sausages on each one. I ended up eating the rest of them throughout the night, dipping them in ketchup.

Danny went on to say he didn’t have enough olive oil in his diet so he ended up constipated

I was so excited to see him ditch the moustache! He seemed really happy about it too, even though his daughter told him some fans actually liked it. It’s great to see him doing what he wants, even if not everyone agrees!

Last month, Disney dropped a first look at the hotly-anticipated second series.

The trailer introduces the five central characters, such as David’s portrayal of Lord Tony Baddingham, the tough and ambitious head of the TV network Corinium, and Emily’s role as Sarah Stratton, a TV star on the rise.

Rupert Campbell-Black, a former Olympic show-jumper and current Conservative MP, is a longtime rival of Baddingham. The role is played by Alex Hassell, known for his performance in The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Aidan Turner, known for his role in Poldark, returns as Declan O’Hara, a former BBC journalist now working in Corinium. Nafessa Williams, from Black Lightning, also reprises her role as Cameron Cook, an American television producer.

The main line-up is completed by Sex Education’s Bella Maclean as Taggie O’Hara.

Okay, so wrapping up the first season, things got intense! Poor Lord Baddingham actually ended up seemingly lifeless after a pretty shocking moment – Cameron whacked him with a trophy during a huge argument. It was a real cliffhanger, honestly! We were all left wondering what would happen next.

The trailer confirms the character is still alive and healthy, returning in a dramatic helicopter scene. He’s described as having just a ‘headache’ and is immediately back in a competitive situation with his on-screen enemy, Rupert.

The competition to win the Central South West television license is becoming increasingly intense, and the rivalry between Corinium and Venturer is escalating into a risky new stage.

Tony Baddingham is now more determined and aggressive than ever before. He’s systematically working to destroy his opponents, using damaging rumors and manipulating people close to them, all to stay in control.

During the wild and extravagant 1980s, the private lives of the people in Rutshire fall apart.

Strong desires for success can ruin marriages, secret relationships can destroy families, and hidden truths often lead to dramatic and painful outcomes.

When competition becomes fierce, relationships are strained and people get hurt in the drive to win. But at what point does striving for victory become too much?

Disney+ announced the return of its most mischievous show, revealing it will premiere on May 15th.
