Danny Dyer, the lead actor in the Disney+ series Rivals, has spoken about the recent loss of Dame Jilly Cooper. The show is based on her popular novel, and sadly, she passed away last October during production of the second season.
It was so sad when Freddie Jones’ character died, and honestly, hearing Millie Dyer talk about it really got to me. She said it just made everything even more emotional for everyone on set, and I can totally understand why. It was a powerful moment in the show, and it clearly affected the cast deeply.
Honestly, she’s just everywhere in the game, you really feel her presence. It’s a total bummer she won’t get to experience it all herself, you know?
The project took a long time, and when we heard the sad news, it motivated us to finish strong and make it the best it could be.
I’m super excited because Rivals is coming back in May! They’re dropping the new episodes in two parts, and honestly, the previews promise a ton of drama, clever moments, and, well, let’s just say things are going to get interesting.
What to Read Next
The conflict for control of Central South West television will escalate dramatically in season two, as the rivalry between Corinium and Venturer becomes even more intense and risky. Tony Baddingham, played by David Tennant, is set on systematically destroying his opponents, using damaging rumors and manipulating people around him to stay in charge.
The lives of the main characters fall apart as they get caught up in the wild, over-the-top lifestyle of the 1980s, according to the show’s description.
Driven by personal goals, marriages fall apart, and affairs risk destroying families. Old secrets resurface, causing dramatic and painful consequences. As fierce competition intensifies, friendships and relationships are strained, and people suffer in the quest to win. But at what price does this relentless pursuit of victory come?
Joining David Tennant and Richard Dyer, Emily Atack, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams, Luke Pasqualino, and Katherine Parkinson will all be back for the new season, reprising their roles as Sarah Stratton, Rupert Campbell-Black, Declan O’Hara, Cameron Cook, Basil Baddingham, and Lizzie Vereker, respectively.
The cast is growing! Hayley Atwell will play the former wife of Rupert Campbell-Black, and Rupert Everett will play her current husband.
The second season of Rivals will launch on Disney+ in the UK on May 15th, with the first three episodes available immediately. The remaining episodes will be released later in the year.
I’m so excited – the new issue of Living Legends is out! It’s a gorgeous, full-colour magazine dedicated to Harry Styles, and it’s packed with 100 pages of amazing content. You can grab a copy at newsstands or order it online now!
