Danny Dyer Jokes About Being a Disney Star After Winning Best Supporting Actor at RTS Awards!

They set hearts racing when their characters embarked on a love affair in the bonkbuster Rivals.

Tonight at the Royal Television Society Awards, Danny Dyer, who is 47 years old, honored his fellow actor Katherine Parkinson, also 47, following his win as Best Supporting Actor for his role in the risqué Disney+ version of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals.

On stage to receive his award, Danny humorously commented: “What a win! I need to thank Disney now, I’m officially a Disney star! This fantastic show must be why I won, as there were so many outstanding performances.

He subsequently recognized Katherine as well, since she too had been nominated for her part in the show. In this production, Freddie Jones, known for his bushy upper lip character, portrayed a businessman named Dyer. This storyline involved him carrying on an affair with Lizzie Vereker, a role played by Parkinson.

He added: ‘I’d like to thank Denee, my manager, and also the amazing Katherine Parkinson.’

Danny ended his acceptance speech by acknowledging the hardworking actors: “A nod to fellow actors from the working class, don’t forget your roots!

Before the award function commenced, the renowned pair graced the red carpet, striking numerous captivating photographs with each other.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself exuding sophistication and style while donning a sleek, satin black double-breasted blazer paired with spacious, trendy trousers. Striking various poses before the lens, I aimed to capture an air of elegance and confidence.

Simultaneously, Katherine exuded casual elegance in a deep-necked silver top, a large, single-breasted jacket, and a mid-length pleated skirt. She strolled hand-in-hand with Danny along the red carpet.

She increased the height of her figure by wearing a pair of sharp, black court heels with points, and she opted for simple accessories, sporting beige drop earrings.

To perfectly finish off her appearance, Katherine chose a glowing makeup set and elegantly pulled back her fiery red hair into an sophisticated updo, all while flashing bright smiles for the photographers.

Danny received the most nominations from the Royal Television Society and emerged victorious against contenders McKinley Belcher III, nominated for his role in Netflix’s “Eric,” and Sonny Walker, recognized for his performance in “The Gathering” on Channel 4.

I had the pleasure of winning in the writing category alongside fellow scribes Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Laura Wade, outshining the notable works of Will Smith’s Slow Horses and Peter Straughan’s Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light in the competition.

This year’s award ceremonies have been particularly successful for Danny, as he was recently honored with the Best Supporting Actor accolade at the highly esteemed Broadcasting Press Guild awards held in London just last week.

Danny has announced that he’ll soon start shooting a new TV series and, in addition, will be walking his 28-year-old daughter Dani up the aisle in May. To make things more interesting, he plans to maintain his character’s distinctive mustache throughout filming.

As a die-hard fan bursting with excitement, here I am, eagerly sharing the news that I, Dani (a mother of three), have announced my intention to tie the knot with the talented West Ham footballer, Jarrod Bowen, in a delightful, intimate ceremony this coming Spring.

He told Heart Radio: ‘I will have a moustache because I’ll be shooting, so I’ll have a tash.’

Despite not having looked at the scripts as of now, Danny has shared that he will have to master horse-riding for the upcoming TV series.

He mentioned: ‘As of now, I haven’t looked at any scripts, which means I can’t share anything with you right away. However, what I can confirm is that I need to learn how to ride a horse. That’s the only information I have for you.’

The ensemble for this production features big names like David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack, along with Danny, Katherine, Alex Hassell, Oliver Chris, and Claire Rushbrook.

1986 serves as the backdrop for this tale, delving into the ruthless landscape of television production, where we find Rupert Campbell-Black (Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant) locked in a fierce competition.

Caught up in a whirlwind of grand events and decadent feasts at Lord Baddingham’s countryside manor, I found myself entangled in a web of passionate trysts and forbidden longings.

On December 4th, it was announced that Disney+ has renewed the popular series for another season, and one of its executive producers, Jilly, couldn’t contain her enthusiasm. In a statement, she shared her joy: “Almost 40 years after my book ‘Rivals’ was first published, I am thrilled to see it continuing to resonate.

‘I’ve adored seeing the world fall in love with my beloved characters – Rutshire’s finest.

‘And it has been a fairytale come true working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season.

I’m absolutely thrilled and can hardly contain my anticipation for the return of Rupert Campbell-Black, my favorite superhero, and the other characters in season two.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, it appears that Season 2 might be released around 2026, possibly towards the end of the year, given the production timeline of Season 1. However, an exact date has not been announced officially yet.
