28 Years Later director Danny Boyle has shared his one remorse regarding his decision to step down from directing James Bond.
2018 saw the unexpected departure of the director from the James Bond film (the 25th one), with the producers explaining that it was due to disagreements on creative aspects that led to his leaving.
Eventually, Cary Joji Fukunaga assumed the role of director for the film, and in the year 2021, the movie “No Time to Die” served as Daniel Craig’s final portrayal of James Bond.
Previously, it became known that Amazon’s MGM Studios assumed creative leadership over the Bond series, allowing Broccoli and Wilson to relinquish their roles.
Business Insider questioned whether the news implied that Boyle might direct Bond again. However, his response was that it’s no longer an option, as he said, “That boat has passed.

Regarding his exit from the movie, Boyle expressed regret that a screenplay by his long-term partner John Hodge, who has written scripts for films such as “Shallow Grave,” “The Beach,” and both “Trainspotting” movies, unfortunately didn’t make it to production.
Boyle expressed that he was particularly disappointed because the script was exceptionally well-written, and John Hodge is an extremely talented writer.
As per Boyle, directors’ enthusiasm for the script didn’t match the level of appreciation that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson felt.

Boyle stated, “I believe they didn’t fully recognize the quality of that script, and since they didn’t, we decided to proceed further, which is how things often work out.
Earlier on, I shared with Empire magazine my thoughts on departing from the Bond film. It seemed we were gelling exceptionally well, but unfortunately, the producers weren’t keen on pursuing our vision for the project.
We chose to go our separate ways, and it wouldn’t be right for me to speculate about the reasons since I’m not aware of Cary’s [Fukunaga’s] future plans.
He added: “I believed the work John and I were engaged in had great potential. Although it wasn’t completed yet, it had the capacity to be truly excellent.
