As a devoted fan who has grown up with Danielle Fishel and her character Topanga Lawrence, I must say it’s heartwrenching to see my beloved actress face such a challenging time. However, as she bravely shares her breast cancer diagnosis, I’m reminded of how strong and resilient she truly is – just like the fearless Topanga we all adore!

In my own words, I’d say: As a devoted partner, I can’t help but echo the sentiments of my husband, Jensen Karp, who recently praised his wife, Danielle Fishel, as an incredibly strong individual. His admiration stems from her courage in sharing her breast cancer diagnosis with the world.

At forty-three years old, Fishel has shared that she’s been diagnosed with a type of early breast cancer called Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS).

In a show of solidarity, her spouse, who is 44 and they’ve been married for six years together with whom they have two kids, expressed his backing for Fishel through a post made to his Instagram Stories on Monday.

“I’m incredibly proud of Danielle Fishel for utilizing her platform to spread awareness. It’s crucial that we never skip our appointments and always get checked! She is an incredibly strong individual, and she will undoubtedly succeed in this endeavor.”

The sweet message came shortly after Fishel – who is best known for playing Topanga Lawrence on the teen sitcom Boy Meets World – revealed her diagnosis.

On a recent episode of Pod Meets World, I shared my personal health journey: I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, or ductal carcinoma in situ – a type of breast cancer that’s contained within the milk ducts. It’s a bit of a shock, but I’m taking it one step at a time and focusing on staying positive and informed.

‘It is very, very, very early. It’s technically stage zero.

In other words, due to my preference for extensive details, I received a diagnosis of high-grade Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) with micro-invasive properties.

Despite this, Danielle is remaining optimistic, insisting that she’s ‘going to be fine’.

She said: ‘I’m going to be fine. I’m having surgery to remove it.

In my role as a wellness guide, I find myself embarking on additional care regimens. Over the past few days, I’ve been faced with a series of crucial choices that needed careful consideration.

Danielle expresses gratitude since the problem was detected ‘extremely early on’. Moreover, she’s urging her followers to have regular check-ups as well.

She mentioned: “I was able to detect this cancer at its earliest stage, stage zero, solely due to the fact that I promptly scheduled an appointment for my mammogram as soon as I received the text about my annual results.”

1. They discovered it so far ahead of time that I’ll be alright. Here’s hoping this discovery motivates everyone to act promptly. (Informal)

Danielle also acknowledged that her treatment could hinder her podcast series.

The actress mentioned that she faces significant choices concerning her treatment plans, and currently, she doesn’t have all the solutions.

As someone who has navigated through challenging health journeys before, I wanted to share some important news with our beloved audience. Due to my upcoming treatments, there might be instances where we need to pause our ongoing projects or plans. However, we will make every effort to minimize disruption and ensure a smooth transition. Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time.

Mayo Clinic explains that ‘Ductal carcinoma in situ’ refers to a very early type of breast cancer where the malignant cells are trapped within a milk duct in the breast and have not yet invaded the surrounding tissue. This condition is often abbreviated as DCIS, and may also be referred to as noninvasive or preinvasive breast cancer, or stage 0 breast cancer.

In routine breast cancer screenings or when investigating a breast lump, DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ) is often discovered. Although DCIS carries a relatively low risk of spreading and becoming a life-threatening condition, it’s essential to assess its nature and weigh the appropriate treatment options, as the clinic advises.

Since 2022, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Pod Meets World podcast alongside my cherished Boy Meets World co-stars, Will Friedle and Rider Strong.

Apart from Ben Savage, the threesome appeared in the popular growing-up sitcom that chronicled Cory Matthews’ (Savage), his buddy Shawn Hunter’s (Strong), and childhood sweetheart Topanga Lawrence’s (Fishel) journey from grade school to college.
