Daniel Radcliffe replaced by Marvel star in ’70s-set drama about “one of the great underdog stories”

Daniel Radcliffe has been replaced by a Marvel star in an upcoming ’70s-set drama film.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that by February 2024, I found myself cast as one of the lead characters in the movie “Batso,” alongside the talented Ethan Hawke, who starred in “The Black Phone.” It’s surreal to be working alongside such a renowned actor, and I can hardly wait for this exciting journey!

Drawing inspiration from real events, this movie will trace the daring ascent of Warren ‘Batso’ Harding and Dean Caldwell as they tackled the previously impossible climb up Yosemite National Park’s renowned El Capitan, often referred to as ‘The Wall of Early Morning Light’.

Originally, Hawke and Radcliffe were cast to portray Batso and Caldwell, but Deadline reports that for these roles in the upcoming project, Walton Goggins from The White Lotus season 3 and Thunderbolts’ star Lewis Pullman will step in instead.

*Note: I assumed ‘Thunderbolts*’ refers to the Marvel movie titled “Thunderbolts”. If it’s a different production, please correct the title accordingly.

It was made known last year that Jessica Biel is the partner of Batso, along with being part of the Yosemite climbing community, and she remains associated with the project.

As a diehard fan, I can tell you that back in 1970, the ascent of The Wall of Early Morning Light was considered an inconceivable feat. For two legendary climbers, Batso and Caldwell, this towering wall symbolized a virtually impossible test of both physical prowess and mental fortitude.

For the rebellious Batso, this presented an opportunity to prove the doubters wrong, who believed he was past his prime, disconnected, and eccentric. On the other hand, for the novice Dean, it served as a means to break free from his routine 9-5 life and unleash the remarkable capabilities of human spirit.

Originally, it seemed like a nearly comical practice, but eventually transformed into one of the most remarkable comeback tales in sports history. Initially projected to last for about ten days, this challenge evolved into a 28-day endurance test of resilience and determination that created a media frenzy.

As a devoted fan, I’ve often heard whispers over time suggesting that Daniel Radcliffe might step into the Marvel universe, possibly inheriting the role of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman. However, he’s consistently dismissed these rumors, attributing them to the fact that we both share a somewhat similar height, leading people to make the connection to Wolverine.

Not long ago, he expressed an interest in penning a movie about the industry himself, plus revealing who might portray him in a biographical film.

Batso currently does not have a release date.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to announce that the latest print issue from Digital Spy is now available! You can grab a copy of “Oasis – Live in ’25” at your local newsagents or online for only £8.99. Don’t miss out on this exciting read!
