The thriller The Jacket, often praised as a hidden gem (according to MovieWeb), is now available to stream on Prime Video in the UK. Released in 2005, the sci-fi film was directed by John Maybury (known for The Edge of Love from 2008) and features a strong cast including Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley, Kris Kristofferson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Daniel Craig.
Inspired by Jack London’s 1915 novel The Star Rover, the movie centers on Jack Starks (Brody), a Gulf War veteran who suffers from amnesia. Returning to Vermont in 1992, Jack is mistakenly convicted of murder and committed to a psychiatric hospital overseen by Dr. Thomas Becker (Kris Kristofferson).
During a harsh and difficult experience, Jack discovers he can travel to the future. He then resolves to alter the destinies of both a woman named Jackie (Keira Knightley) and himself.

According to The Washington Post, the film The Jacket heavily borrows elements from Jacob’s Ladder, The Silence of the Lambs, and Memento.
In a review, The New York Times described the movie as delightfully silly, though not without its flaws.
In a recent interview with Indie London, Keira Knightley explained what first attracted her to the film. She said she was filming King Arthur in Dublin when she received a stack of ten scripts, all of which seemed promising.
They blended together seamlessly, embodying a classic, cheerful British spirit. It’s a wonderful quality when it comes together like that.
I then read the screenplay for The Jacket. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen – a really original piece. Plus, it gave me a chance to try an American accent, which was new for me. It was a very exciting project overall.
