Daniel Craig drops out of lead DC war movie role
Daniel Craig has dropped out of his role in DC movie Sgt Rock.
In an informal capacity, the actor known for playing James Bond is linked to take on the role of the comic book character in a fresh movie version directed by Luca Guadagnino.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported by Deadline that he’s no longer involved in the project, and the details behind his departure remain undisclosed for now.
Working together again on this project would have signified a reunion for the actor, director, and writer Justin Kuritzkes, following their successful collaboration on the film “Queer” last year.
In 1959, the character Sergeant Rock, also known as Franklin J. Rock, made his debut. He’s renowned for commanding the Easy Company during World War II, displaying a straightforward demeanor throughout.
At present, Craig is getting ready to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc in the upcoming film “Wake Up Dead Man,” the third installment of the Knives Out series, expected to hit theaters later in the year.
Among the main characters joining the star are Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
Previously, during the past year, Craig confessed that he experienced a sense of unease following the acclaim for his first outing in Casino Royale, describing it as feeling “jittery.
He expressed to The New Yorker that he believed he wouldn’t have been able to handle everything, and instead, he might have disintegrated in evident ways. At around thirty-five years old or thereabouts, he plunged into a massive, profound, and dark pit of despair.
I’ve been secluding myself at home, feeling quite on edge about it. And my suspicion wasn’t unfounded – before watching the first movie, he seemed truly dreadful. But after seeing that film, I found him surprisingly good.
In other news, there’s a major change happening within the spy franchise as Amazon MGM is now assuming full creative control, previously held by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, under a new collaboration deal.
