Daniel Bedingfield‘s 2002 hit, “If You’re Not The One,” launched him to fame, but he’s confessed that even finding ‘the one’ wouldn’t completely fulfill him.
During an interview on The Shizzo Show earlier this year, the 46-year-old pop singer shared that he practices polyamory, explaining, ‘I’m naturally inclined to love multiple people – two or three.’
I finally found the person I want to be with. I realized previous relationships weren’t right for me and weren’t going to work out. I’m looking for a deeper connection, whether it involves loving someone fully or finding a strong connection with two people – my heart just feels different now.
Shizzio asks: ‘Right, so you can’t love one person?’
Okay, look, people keep asking, but seriously, I still adore everyone I’ve ever loved. It’s not like I just move on! My heart is completely overflowing with all those amazing people I’ve shared feelings with. They all still mean something to me, you know?

It’s frustrating when a new person enters the picture and suddenly you’re forced to choose favorites. It’s like being asked to choose between your sister and your mother – completely inappropriate! Just stop asking those kinds of questions.
I can’t answer that… who do you think I love more? This whole thing wasn’t my idea, and it just doesn’t feel like me.
In April 2024, Daniel publicly shared that he is attracted to men, revealing he had feelings for a man he cared for while performing at the London Palladium.
The singer of “Gotta Get Thru This” had stepped away from music for twenty years, but he recently came back to mark the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough single.
Speaking to the audience, he explained that in his time, people were expected to identify as either straight or gay, and there wasn’t much room for anything else. He shared that he’d written a song with someone he cared for, and it was about a woman they both admired.
The song, titled ‘Borderline,’ led Daniel to talk about a woman they both missed dearly when she was gone.
He said: ‘I’m not very gay, but we were on a hot spring, sitting on a rock, missing her.’
During the same interview, Daniel also revealed his biggest celebrity feud is with Avid Merrion, a character played by Leigh Francis.
He was furious that Avid Merrion had falsely announced his death to everyone, and considers Merrion his biggest enemy. He was also upset to hear about the difficulties Craig David had been going through.
‘That’s an enemy, that’ s a bad English person. All my friends thought I was dead.’

On the show Celebrity Juice, which ended in 2022 after 14 years, Daniel claimed the comedian enjoyed a prank where he falsely led people to believe he had died back in 2015.
In 2015, Daniel quickly became a popular search on Google as fans tried to confirm a claim made by Leigh.
In 2004, the same year his album ‘Second First Impression’ came out, Natasha Bedingfield’s brother was seriously injured in a car accident in New Zealand. He almost didn’t survive.
In 2023, Craig David revealed he moved to the United States to get away from the fallout after being mocked by Leigh Francis, explaining that the experience felt like being bullied as a child.
Leigh Francis has stopped playing his popular characters, like Keith Lemon, after receiving criticism in recent years.
He made a public apology in 2020, expressing his regret at mimicking black stars.

Daniel shared that he thinks he might be autistic, even though he’s taken three tests that didn’t indicate he is.
He mentioned he often thinks and behaves in ways similar to people with autism. He’s taken an autism assessment multiple times, but the results haven’t indicated that he is autistic.
Seeing other autistic people helped me realize I am too. It’s like having a little computer running in my head, and when I first started succeeding at things, I didn’t know how to act or what was expected of me.
‘I tried to behave how I saw other pop stars behave. I think I kind of pulled it off.’
He commented that people on the autism spectrum often have facial expressions that don’t quite match what they’re feeling or what’s happening, either showing movement when they’re still or remaining still when they’d typically express something.
The animation is a bit rough and overacted, which can be funny and charming. However, it can also be unsettling for viewers used to more realistic movement, creating a strange or peculiar feeling.
