D’Angelo’s daughter remembers him with touching photo as singer dies at 51

D’Angelo’s daughter, Imani Archer, shared a memory of her father on Instagram following his death on Tuesday at the age of 51.

She posted a photo on her Stories of the R&B singer playing guitar, showing her smiling beside him.

Imani, 26, added three bandaged heart emojis.

The musician is survived by his daughter, as well as two sons: 27-year-old Michael Archer Jr. and 15-year-old Morocco Archer.

He is the father of Michael II with Angie Stone, the beloved R&B singer who sadly passed away in a car accident last March at the age of 63.

A spokesperson for D’Angelo has confirmed the death of Michael D’Angelo Archer, expressing deep sorrow and sadness.

His family announced with deep sadness that he has passed away, describing him as a bright light in their lives.

We’re deeply saddened by his passing and cherish the memories he leaves with his family. However, we are forever thankful for the incredibly powerful and beautiful music he created, which will continue to inspire us all.

The note ended with D’Angelo’s loved one asking for privacy as they grieve their loss.

We kindly request privacy as we grieve, but we also want to share in celebrating the beautiful music he created and left as his legacy.

People strongly criticized the musician’s ex-partner, Angie, because she was twelve years older than him when they were in a relationship.

On Tuesday, their son, known as Swayvo Twain, shared his feelings about losing both parents within a year.

He told People he was thankful for the support and kind thoughts he’d received, saying it meant a lot during a really tough and sad year.

Okay, so he just said he really appreciates all the support, and things are going to be tough, but he’s determined to be strong. He said his parents always taught him that, and honestly, it just makes me love him even more! I’m definitely keeping him in my thoughts, always!

D’Angelo won four Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album for *Voodoo* and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “(Untitled) How Does It Feel” in 2001.

In 2016, he received two awards: Best R&B Album for his December 2014 album, *Black Messiah*, and Best R&B Song for the album’s single, “Really Love.”

The popular musician passed away on Tuesday after a fight with pancreatic cancer. He had been receiving hospice care for the final two weeks of his life.
