D’Angelo dead at 51: Grammy-winning soul music icon passes after cancer battle

Iconic soul singer D’Angelo has died aged 51.

The Daily Mail reports that the Grammy-winning musician, famous for songs like ‘Brown Sugar’ and ‘Untitled (How Does It Feel)’, has died after fighting pancreatic cancer.

The singer is survived by his two sons and one daughter. Sadly, the mother of his eldest son, Angie Stone, passed away in a car accident earlier this year in March.

I… I still can’t believe it. I just saw the news, and my world stopped. His representative actually *confirmed* it to the Daily Mail – they said, and I quote, ‘It is with profound sadness and the heaviest of hearts that I confirm the passing of Michael D’Angelo Archer.’ Michael… D’Angelo… gone. It feels so unreal. I’ve been a fan since forever, and this just… this is devastating.

‘D’Angelo passed away earlier today, October 14, 2025, in New York City. He was 51 years old.’

The singer’s representative says an official statement about his death will be released soon, and details about memorial services will follow.

His death is a huge loss, felt deeply by his family and friends, and by the millions of people worldwide who were inspired by his incredible talent.

D’Angelo was an incredibly talented musician who profoundly impacted soul and R&B music. Beyond his artistry, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend, and his loss is deeply felt by many.

The family is deeply saddened and is asking for privacy as they grieve.

D’Angelo won four Grammys including Best R&B Album for Voodoo in 2001 and Black Messiah in 2016.

The artist previously won two awards: Best R&B Song in 2016 for “Really Love,” and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Untitled (How Does It Feel).”
