As a seasoned cinephile who has witnessed countless dance-offs from “So You Think You Can Dance” to “Strictly Come Dancing,” I must say that the recent finale of “Dancing With the Stars” was nothing short of spectacular. The competition between former “Bachelor” Joey Graziadei and U.S. Olympian Ilona Maher was a nail-biter, with both contestants showcasing their unique blend of skill, grace, and charisma.

Former “Bachelor” Joey Graziadei has been named champion of the “Dancing With the Stars” ballroom.

In the last few moments of ABC’s eight-week contest, professional dance partner Jenna Johnson outperformed U.S. Olympic athlete Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten, who ultimately took the runner-up position, with Jenna being crowned the winner.

Graziadei expressed his feelings after winning the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy: “This victory is entirely for Jenna, and it means everything to me. This entire experience has been incredible, truly unimaginable. Ilona, your performances this season have been outstanding. I adore you. A big thank you to all the finalists, judges, and everyone else who supported us. I gave my best, and I promise!

Five pairs made it to the final round. The remaining three teams were: Chandler Kinney, formerly of Disney Channel, and his partner Brandon Armstrong, who ended up in third position; Stephen Nedoroscik, known as the “Pommel Horse Guy” from the Olympics, and Rylee Arnold, who finished fourth; and lastly, Danny Amendola, a former NFL player, and Witney Carson, who came in fifth place.

As a dedicated movie enthusiast looking back on my journey, I must admit that when I first embarked on this series, I was swimming far beyond my depth. I questioned whether I truly belonged amidst such fierce competition. However, from being jittery in week one to feeling confident and thrilled by the final dance, my transformation was nothing short of extraordinary. As the star of “The Bachelor” Season 28 who claimed the coveted “DWTS” title, I can now proudly say that I danced my way from apprehension to triumph!

Just like many participants on “Dancing With the Stars”, he mentioned that this competition was the toughest challenge he’s ever faced.

He commented, “The mental aspect of this contest has proven to be the toughest task I’ve ever faced so far.” He continued, “I need to quickly master routines and deliver strong performances in front of an audience within just a week. The pressure and anxiety associated with that are absolutely overwhelming.

Graziadei admitted to Us Weekly that he “lost consciousness” after his victory, recalling only Johnson screaming very loudly and hugging her, as well as last season’s winning pro, Val Chmerkovskiy (Johnson’s husband), appearing on stage to present them with the Mirrorball trophy.

He mentioned that the trophy felt noticeably heavier than expected, and that was essentially all he recalled. Now, he’s saying that’s where things stand, and here we are,” he commented.

Maher, renowned for her backstage updates during the Paris Olympics that made waves across social media, handled defeat with poise. She embraced her partner amidst showering confetti in the ballroom, and subsequently expressed gratitude to her followers on Instagram for joining her journey.

We’re grateful for everything, team! Your votes helped us reach the second position, which may not be first, but we’ve won in so many other meaningful ways. It’s been a privilege to work with each other and experience this incredible journey. This is something we’ll remember forever.

For the final act, each couple showcased an improvised routine with extra dancers present, along with a “second chance” dance chosen by the judges. Prior to his stint on “The Bachelor,” Graziadei was a tennis coach. He executed a tennis-themed performance synchronized with “Canned Heat” and a redemption cha-cha rhythmically set to “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” This was in response to his underwhelming performance from the first week.

According to Judge Derek Hough, the cha-cha served as a strong indication that the pair were among the front runners in this competition. The cha-cha received three perfect scores of 10 from Hough and judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Although their tennis freestyle didn’t meet Carrie Ann Inaba’s expectations, who gave them a 9, they still managed to receive two perfect 10s from Hough and Tonioli.

Graziadei stated on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, “We all put in tremendous effort… and it was truly priceless to receive this outcome as a result. To put it simply, it felt fantastic!

As a movie critic, I find myself needing a respite from the whirlwind of reality TV. After consecutive engagements on two ABC shows, I’m eager for a brief escape into the realm of fiction.

Graziadei expressed that “The Bachelor” and “Dancing with the Stars” were both extraordinary experiences for him. He further mentioned, “With my wonderful fiancée Kelsey Anderson by my side, I not only found an amazing partner but also won the Mirrorball trophy this year.

Maher was assigned by Tonioli to dance a jive as her chance to make amends – this being the same style of dance that had left her in tears during the critique in a previous week. Known for his impressive jazz performance portraying Luisa from “Encanto” during the show’s Disney night, Maher brought an energetic jive choreographed to “Shake a Tail Feather” which earned him and Bersten a 9 from each judge.

In her freestyle routine, the bronze medalist showcased her femininity in an energetic display synchronized to “Femininomenon,” leaving Inaba astonished and awarding her a trio of perfect 10 scores.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Nedoroscik has been selected to co-host the Dancing With the Stars: Live! 2025 tour alongside Maher and popular cast members on specific dates. This traveling dance show is set to visit various locations in California this coming spring.

On March 22nd, I’ll be taking the stage in Redding. Then it’s off to Santa Rosa on the 23rd, San Jose on the 25th, and Temecula on the 30th. Come April, you can catch me in Santa Barbara from the 3rd to the 5th, followed by a stop in Indio before wrapping up in Los Angeles.
