Dancing On Ice Fans Rage as ‘Diverse’ Winners Spark Claims Show is ‘Stale’!

2025’s Dancing on Ice champions have sparked criticism from some viewers, who find the variety in the winners to be questionable, following Sam Aston’s victory in the series.

On Sunday, an actor from Coronation Street emerged victorious against Michaela Strachan in the final round, prompting some viewers to express that the program now feels “unfresh” or “lacking excitement.

Concerns about its future have arisen following a decline of more than a million viewers in the past two years, and the team has been informed that the seemingly exhausted program may no longer continue.

In the closing moments of what could be the last episode, viewers expressed anger upon discovering that no female celebrities have triumphed since the show’s revival in 2018.

In the previous year, I had the pleasure of witnessing the triumph of a talented soap actor named Ryan Thomas, along with his accomplished dance partner Amani Fancy, in our joint competition.

In 2013, during series eight, Beth Tweddle and Daniel Whiston were the ones to claim the championship title together, making her the most recent woman to do so.

The following year Ray Quinn was crowned the winner and the show was taken off air for four years.

Since the show was revived in 2018, it was Jake Quickenden, James Jordan, Joe Swash, Sonny Jay, Regan Gascoigne, Nile Wilson, and Ryan who took home the trophy each consecutive year.

Before gymnast Beth won in 2013 only three women won the show after its launch in 2006. 

As a lifestyle expert looking back, I’m thrilled to share that I had the honor of being the very first winner in the show’s history – a moment I’ll always cherish. Following my victory in 2006, stars like Kyran Bracken, Suzanne Shaw, Ray Quinn, Hayley Tamaddon, Sam Attwater, and Matthew Wolfenden graced the stage and took home the title in subsequent seasons. What an incredible journey it’s been!

Out of a total of 16 winners, only four women have been crowned champion of the skating show. 

It hasn’t escaped the notice of show enthusiasts; a post on X reads: “I’m thrilled that Dancing On Ice has been featuring a varied and distinctive group of winners ever since its revival.

After hearing the reports, it seems that Dancing On Ice might be cancelled due to a loss of over a million viewers during the past two years. Staff have been informed that the long-running program, which some say has grown stale, may have reached its end.

As reported by The Sun, there’s a possibility that the series may take a break, undergo changes, and return at a future time, much like how it was canceled in 2014 and resumed after four years.

According to a source, the viewership numbers have noticeably decreased compared to before, but it’s worth noting that nearly three million people tuned in for the launch event. It can’t be ignored, however, that the format appears less fresh and they aren’t attracting the high-profile stars as they used to.

It seems that renovations or updates are essential, and there’s a good chance they will be revitalized. However, the staff are not very optimistic about the situation.

The outcome of the show depends on the discussions following last night’s finale, as Dancing On Ice is a costly production and doubts linger about whether ITV is receiving value for their investment.

TopMob has contacted representatives for Dancing On Ice for comment. 

According to a recent report, a source shared with The Mirror: ‘There are genuine concerns that Dancing on Ice may be coming to an end. Despite its long-standing success over almost 20 years and having a dedicated fanbase who deeply appreciate it, the reality is that the show’s viewership is simply not as high as it used to be.’

We require more people attending, but the audience numbers have decreased significantly, making it challenging to justify the expense.

The upcoming season of Dancing On Ice faces uncertainty, as its leading judges Torvill and Dean announced their intention to retire from skating, with their final performance taking place on Sunday.

Currently, sources within ITV have shared that Holly is occupied with various other responsibilities, hence she couldn’t rejoin the game show she co-hosted with Stephen for a two-part special last year.
