Dancing On Ice 2025: Paralympic grand champion is latest contestant named in 12 person line-up
As a longtime viewer and admirer of Holly Willoughby’s remarkable career, I am thrilled to hear that she is set to return as the host of Dancing On Ice in 2025. Her connection with the show, which catapulted her into grown-up television, is heartwarming and adds an authentic charm to the program.
12-time Paralympic champion Dame Sarah Storey has become the latest star announced for the upcoming season of Dancing on Ice.
On the episode of Lorraine that aired on Monday, she shared the news, expressing her eagerness by stating, “I can’t wait to pick up a new talent and take advantage of this chance to try a fresh sport.
I can hardly contain my excitement as I pen this down! Guess who’s joining the cast for the upcoming season of “Dancing on Ice”? None other than Chelsee Healy, Dan Edgar, Chris Taylor, and the ever-charming Michaela Strachan! The announcement was made public on Thursday, and I can barely wait to witness their moves on the ice. This fan is absolutely thrilled!
36-year-old actress who is recognized for portraying Janeece Bryant on Waterloo Road, expressed her joy upon learning that she had been selected as the eighth celebrity competitor.
On Heart Radio, Chelsee shared that she’s all set and raring to start: “Here we go! Though I have some sense of rhythm, skating on ice is an entirely new experience for me, and I can hardly wait!
The live performances are what I’m looking forward to the most. Each week performing live will be thrilling, and I’m eagerly anticipating these live shows.
TOWIE star Dan expressed, “I’m excited about it, but the idea of the live performances and showcasing myself is quite tangible.
He added: ‘While I consider myself somewhat skilled at ice skating, my dancing abilities are quite poor, so that aspect requires improvement.’
Reality Star and Presenter Chris then became the tenth celebrity confirmed to be taking part.
He shared with Heart Radio, “I’m feeling a mix of being incredibly nervous and really thrilled, and I’ve been switching back and forth between the two rather intensely all day long. I haven’t even begun to warm up yet; I still need to.
‘I can skate, but it seems I didn’t get his flexible hips, which is a shame as that trait wasn’t passed down genetically from my father.’
As a die-hard admirer of the exceptional talent that is Michaela, renowned for her captivating performances in television shows like The Really Wild Show and Springwatch, I’m thrilled to share that she’ll be joining us too!
On the latest edition of Lorraine, she disclosed: “I was offered a chance for it twice before, and this year they’ve extended an invitation to me. I believe it would have been more suitable 14 years ago as I would have been less apprehensive because I was younger. Now, I am even more anxious about it.
It appears that I’ll be facing a substantial test ahead. My last encounter with ice was about 14 years back since my training was primarily in dance. I do possess some sense of balance, but I’m unsure if my skills will serve me well here, given the uncertainty of my proficiency.
This week, it became known that footballer and commentator Anton Ferdinand, aged 39 (brother of renowned footballer Rio), is planning to trade the football field for an ice skating rink.
On Wednesday, during an interview with talkSPORT Radio, Anton mentioned that he joined the program primarily as a challenging endeavor.
He continued: ‘I’m in a new phase of my life since retiring from football and the one of the things I’ve missed about playing is the structure it gives you.
Participating in ‘Dancing On Ice’ is a great way for me to concentrate, but I’m also taking part as my daughter adores dancing and theatrical performances. Football has always been my son’s arena to shine, so this will provide my daughter and me with a shared activity.
Anton was previously a professional soccer player, having last played defense for the team St. Mirren. Notably, his sibling Rio, also well-known, serves as a football analyst on TNT sports television.
The newest contestant is also known for his work campaigning against racial abuse in football.
In the comments of his Dancing On Ice announcement post, he excitedly penned: ‘So far out my comfort zone but I’m here for it!! Let’s gooooooooo.’
Following the confirmation of six celebrities earlier today, including Josh Jones, he is set to participate in the upcoming series.
31-year-old celebrity from Manchester, who was interviewed on the radio station Gaydio, openly confessed that he has absolutely no background or experience in ice skating.
He said: ‘I’ve not got any skating experience whatsoever, I did it once for a date years ago and I wasn’t very good, I was holding onto the railings the entire time and we aren’t together now.
‘My dancing isn’t great either, for a gay man I have no rhythm, I struggle to clap along to a beat so this will be fun.’
Josh is a stand up comedian. After beginning his career performing in small venues and working men’s clubs, he went on to embark on his own comedy tours: Waste of Space and Gobsmacked.
On Instagram, Josh made it official that he’s part of the skating competition, stating to his audience: “Dancing on Ice isn’t a joke!
Among the panel of judges for the show, Oti Mabuse was among the first to express her thoughts, penning beneath Josh’s post: “This is fantastic, Josh! I’m thrilled and can’t wait to witness more!
His debut in reality TV is through this show; prior to this, he had guest spots on 8 Out of 10 Cats (E4), Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club, and Iain Stirling’s CelebAbility (ITV2).
Apart from that, he’s been the main host and shared responsibilities on numerous podcasts, such as the witty Hard Sell with Darren Harriott and the entertaining Dead Drama, which delves into historical scandals.
Before the announcement, Charlie Brooks was the fifth star to be confirmed to on Tuesday.
On Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women, Charlie, aged 43, who is recognized for portraying the character Janine in the soap opera, expressed; “I’ve learned about it a couple of weeks ago. The past few months have been incredibly hectic, and now it’s all starting to feel real.
‘Everyone’s like how are you feeling, I suffer with nerves so I don’t know how that is going to go.
As a child, I enjoyed skating and sipping mulled wine during Christmastime. Even now, before stepping onto the ice, I’m unsure of my abilities. I’m not particularly strong in this area.
‘I’m not competitive but it might come out in me and I want to have fun and not get injured.’
She added: “For a while, I pondered it deeply, but then I wondered what my 10-year-old self would say, and I imagined her responding with an enthusiastic ‘Yes!’
‘I had two words at the beginning of the year which were intentional and adventurous.’
Expressing her concerns about the upcoming competition, Charlie said: ‘I’m unsure if my body will hold up since I don’t currently feel very powerful, and it astounds me when I watch them perform that low stance on the ice.’
In the meantime, the conversation shifted towards EastEnders, as Charlie admitted she might consider a comeback to the BBC soap, stating that she wouldn’t rule it out completely.
Regarding Charlie, who left quite an impression as Janine on December 26, 2022, mentioned: “I haven’t received a call about returning for the anniversary, but given how despicable she was, I certainly would.
People on the street often remark, “You’re the one who killed Barry!” But I usually respond, “That happened over two decades ago. My response is simply, ‘He got what he had coming.’
I would never say never about going back, the writing is great and it is done so brilliantly.
A number of well-known personalities such as Coronation Street actor Sam Aston, reality TV star Ferne McCann from TOWIE, Mollie Pearce from The Traitors, and Olympic rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave have been confirmed to participate in the upcoming season of Dancing on Ice in 2025.
On this week’s episode of “This Morning,” it was revealed that Sam, famously recognized for portraying the clumsy character Chesney Brown on “Coronation Street,” was announced as the newest participant.
He told the show: ‘I can’t say it was something that I always wanted to do. It came about, and it was just one of them. The press office mentioned it, we went for a chat and I got a real buzz just going in and experiencing it.
We recently had a conversation, during which they outlined the mechanics of the show. Afterward, they placed us on the ice for either five or ten minutes as a preliminary evaluation of our abilities. That was essentially the extent of the encounter.
The actor, known for roles in Where the Heart Is and The Bill, and a father to Sonny (4), Daisy (2), and four-month-old Hazel with his wife Briony Gardner, is most recognized for his role as Chesney.
However, except for appearing on All-Star Family Fortunes in 2005, he seldom appeared on television as himself, as this wasn’t an avenue he had previously contemplated once he embarked upon his career as a child star.
Originally, he stated: ‘As a young kid attending the show, I didn’t ponder over participating in I’m A Celeb or similar activities. However, now that I have kids of my own, my son is quite thrilled about it.’
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to announce that, similar to my favorite ITV soap stars, I’ll be stepping onto the ice just like Lisa George, Faye Brookes, Sally Dynevor, and Ryan Thomas did before me – all of whom graced the Dancing on Ice stage. In fact, they even claimed the title last year! It’s an honor to join their ranks.
As a lifestyle expert, I can confidently say that based on my conversations with colleagues, embarking on this venture seems to be a remarkable yet challenging journey. It’s described as both exhausting and difficult, yet brilliant at the same time. I must admit, there’s a sense of trepidation, but also an undeniable excitement.
On Monday morning, prior to the unveiling of Mollie and Steve, it was first-time mother Ferne who was initially disclosed as a contestant.
On “This Morning”, Steve shared some thrilling news, expressing it as, “It feels akin to returning to my athletic days once more. For much of my life, I’ve been in competition.
From 1984 to 2000, he amassed an impressive collection of gold medals by winning five consecutive Olympic Games, as well as three Commonwealth Games golds and nine World Rowing Championship titles.
On the daytime television program, he playfully remarked, “They haven’t managed to find skates that fit my large feet – I wear a size 12 and they are exceptionally wide. I’m getting custom-made shoes instead!
Following Mollie’s announcement on Lorraine, she shared that she was eagerly anticipating the physical demands of the program, having made her television debut in the second season of The Traitors earlier this year.
She told the host: ‘It will be fun, I want to challenge myself, I’m ready for the challenge.’
22-year-old model, who underwent a colon removal in 2020 due to living with ulcerative colitis since her childhood, expressed that her stoma bag has essentially restored her life.
Afterward, Adele Roberts, another person using a stoma bag, offered words of motivation to Mollie. Encouragingly, she told Mollie to “go and conquer it!
Mollie, who was born without fingers on her right hand, expressed about her condition: “I’ve learned to adapt, and I’ve never allowed it to hinder me in the past. I won’t let it stop me now.
The brave TV star went on: ‘I really want to do the head banger but my parents will kill me.
‘I am looking forward to a move physical challenge, I am really ready to throw myself into it!’
She added that though she’s yet to begin her official training, she’s ‘raring to go now’.
Mollie went on: ‘The thought is scary but I want to get started.’
In January of this year, Mollie rose to prominence during the second season of the popular BBC series The Traitors. Notably, she was deceived by her friend Harry Clarke, who ultimately emerged as the victor in the show.
Following the deception where she believed Harry was a Loyalist during the performance, Mollie eventually revealed that there was no resentment and their relationship had returned to being normal.
She said: ‘It’s a game, and I think people do forget we signed ourselves up for that game, and there was always a chance that someone was going to be lying to you.
It’s a truth – it was inevitable that you might develop a strong bond with that individual.
Mollie has been an ardent supporter of discussing issues related to bowel health. In May, she launched a fresh initiative focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), encouraging everyone to break the stigma surrounding discussions about bowel movements, often considered a sensitive topic.
Ever since Ferne announced her appearance on today’s Good Morning Britain, I, a hopelessly devoted fan, can hardly contain my excitement! As a mother of two, I know it won’t be easy, but boy, am I looking forward to the dazzling glamour and sparkle that this show promises!
She admitted that she can skate to some extent. “Well, I’ve taken my kids to Winter Wonderland and similar events,” she said, “but if we’re talking about those penguin-like figures on the ice, then yes, you could say I’m quite comfortable gliding around like one!
Ferne shot to fame in 2013 when she joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex for its ninth series.
Since then, she has made appearances on shows like Celebs Go Dating and I’m A Celebrity, ultimately ending her run on the latter in third position.
Lately, she’s been the lead on ITV’s show, “My Family And Me,” and just this week, she announced that the upcoming season of her long-running reality series will be its final one.
For over seven thrilling years, I’ve been hooked on this remarkable TV journey, starting with the captivating tale of Ferne McCann: First Time Mum. From the very first episode, I was drawn into the heartwarming story of her pregnancy and the arrival of her precious little one, Sunday. Over 13 series, this show has become an integral part of my weekly viewing, never failing to engage, inspire, and captivate me.
The show was retitled in 2023 when Ferne welcomed her second daughter Finty.
However, she has decided to end things following a challenging choice made with her businessman fiancé, Lorri Haines, and their six-year-old daughter Sunday, who is her child from the relationship with ex-partner Arthur Collins.
She shared with The Sunday Mirror, “The turning point came when Sunday asked me, ‘Could it be that I’m famous?’ It seemed some of my friends had spotted me in an advertisement.
I found myself saying something along the lines of, “I’m not sure…” This situation left me feeling uneasy, as I didn’t want her to think she was in any way unique or out of place.
Following that moment, it seemed a new league for me, prompting me to step aside and reflect on my emotions. It struck me as the perfect juncture to disengage.
She mentioned that even though Sunday has appeared on the program since her birth, she hadn’t actually watched it much before and was not fully aware of what was going on – until that particular question was asked.
In March, it became public knowledge that ITV executives had extended an attractive proposal to Holly Willoughby for her to reprise her role as the host of Dancing on Ice in the following year, with the intention of retaining her services at their network.
For the first time in two decades, the presenter won’t be renewing her contract with the channel, potentially allowing her competitors to seize this opportunity and recruit her for their shows instead.
However, as reported by The Mail on Sunday, the show is set for another run, and negotiations have begun with Holly regarding her co-hosting duties alongside Stephen Mulhern. This move appears to be a warning to rival networks that they should steer clear of their prized talent.
According to a reliable insider, it’s confirmed that “Dancing On Ice” will return in the year 2025, with the expectation that Holly will be its host.
Negotiations are ongoing regarding contracts, but the leaders admire her greatly, and it’s apparent that many others desire to secure her services as well. However, ITV appreciates her immensely and aims to retain her as an integral part of the ITV family for a long time in the future.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but be utterly smitten by Holly! The show has been instrumental in propelling her from a beloved children’s host to a captivating presence on adult TV. Frankly, it’s no secret that ITV is holding its breath, eagerly hoping that she’ll accept the deal.
According to reports, the top levels of ITV are considering various major programs for her to host, following her departure from This Morning in October after 14 years, due to a plot against her life. Additionally, it appears that the BBC is keen on recruiting her for more of their shows.
In the meantime, it’s reported that figure skating legends Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean are eagerly anticipating the show’s comeback. This is due to the fact that their tour marking 50 years of skating together will kick off immediately following the conclusion of next year’s season.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can confidently say that I’ve been privy to some exciting insider information about our beloved Olympic champions. They’re absolutely thrilled about the prospect of participating in “Dancing On Ice” next season, as it seems like a seamless transition into their upcoming tour. It all appears to be falling perfectly into place for them, making for an exciting and well-orchestrated continuation of their professional journey.
Prior to Ferne’s declaration, there were rumors circulating that another well-known EastEnders actor had agreed to participate in Dancing on Ice as well.
It’s being whispered that Charlie Brooks, famous for her villainous character on EastEnders and winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2012, might be part of the glamorous cast for the upcoming edition.
The actress, who’s now 43 years old, is famously known for her captivating depiction of the villainous character Janine Butcher in the popular BBC soap opera between 1999 and 2022.
Two Christmases ago, she finally bid farewell to Albert Square in the EastEnders’ holiday episode.
It appears that the well-liked soap star could potentially join other famous faces in tackling the ice-cold challenge as a contestant for the cherished skating program.
According to a source, The Sun reported that Charlie is an excellent acquisition. Her large following from EastEnders and vibrant character with a lot of zest are highly valued. The ITV programmers anticipate that she might rekindle some of her popular on-screen I’m a Celebrity charm.
They’re taking full advantage of the situation since several popular female celebrities have decided not to participate in Strictly this season due to the scandals. The cast looks exceptionally strong as a result.
