Since it first came out in 2021, Invincible has become increasingly popular, establishing itself as one of the best superhero shows of recent years. The series boasts a fantastic story and a cast of characters viewers genuinely enjoy, and it’s also filled with running jokes and fun moments that make it highly engaging and relatable.
The show’s clever and self-deprecating humor has really given it a unique personality, which is a major reason why people love it. The recent announcement of a new cast member continues a beloved tradition, and the arrival of a particularly powerful character from the Invincible comic series promises to get fans incredibly hyped for season 4, coming later this year.
Danai Gurira Is The Latest Walking Dead Actor To Join Invincible
New images from the upcoming fourth season of Invincible have confirmed the debut of the character Universa, who will be voiced by Danai Gurira. Gurira is well-known for her work on The Walking Dead and as Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has also appeared in numerous other projects.
As a huge fan of both Invincible and The Walking Dead, I’ve noticed something really cool! It seems like the show keeps bringing in actors from The Walking Dead, and the latest casting for season 4 continues that trend. Since Robert Kirkman created both shows, it makes sense, but I was surprised by just how many familiar faces have popped up in Invincible! It’s a fun little connection that really highlights the shared universe vibe.
Steven Yeun stars as the main character, and it’s interesting to note that the original Guardians of the Globe were all voiced by actors from The Walking Dead. Jeffrey Dean Morgan later joined the show as Conquest in season 3. With Ross Marquand and Khary Payton already involved, and Danai Gurira now joining the cast, Invincible seems to be continuing this connection to The Walking Dead for the foreseeable future.
Danai Gurira Will Be An Excellent Addition To Invincible’s Already Stacked Cast

With so many great actors in Invincible, it’s tough to make a big impression, but Danai Gurira is a wonderful choice for the show. Her strong and expressive voice will make her character, Universa, a truly convincing threat. Hopefully, she’ll have a more significant role in the TV series than she did in the comics, as there’s a lot of potential to explore her storyline with Atom Eve.
Universa isn’t a traditional hero, but she’ll immediately be a powerful force when she appears, and Danai Gurira is expected to make a strong first impression, similar to how JDM introduced Conquest. Like Aaron Paul’s character in Invincible season 3, Universa might even get a dedicated episode to help viewers understand her motivations and connect with her story.
If Gurira joins the cast, she’s sure to bring a lot to the role and quickly become a standout new character this season. Her past work with Steven Yeun on The Walking Dead proves they have great chemistry, and it’ll be exciting to see her scenes with Gillian Jacobs and Walton Goggins. I’m really looking forward to her first appearance!
Invincible Could Still Include More Walking Dead Actors In Future Seasons
With Danai Gurira appearing in Invincible, there’s potential for more actors from The Walking Dead to join the show. Bringing in stars like Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus, and Andrew Lincoln would be a huge boost for the series and a particularly smart move, given the current trend of crossover appearances.
Jon Bernthal’s career has really soared since being on the zombie series, and there was even talk of him potentially playing Thragg, which would be an exciting addition to the cast. Chandler Riggs, after his character’s unexpected death on The Walking Dead, also seems like a great choice, showing Invincible has plenty of talented actors it could use in future seasons.
