Occasionally, I’ve experienced moments where I attended the debut of a film only to find myself exclaiming, “Whoa, that’s not what I believed we were creating.” It’s quite bizarre to see the final product like that.
She shared that she and Ro maintain a firm ‘zero-jerks rule’ at their company, explaining: ‘I cherish each individual who contributes to our production. Our approach to building these productions is strongly influenced by the atmosphere, or energy.’




As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but echo Dakota’s sentiments when he shared that the journey for this dynamic duo hasn’t been smooth sailing. The frustration is palpable as they face resistance from studio executives unwilling to back projects that are ‘different, risky, scary or messy’. It’s a pity, really, because I believe it’s these very elements that make their work unique and captivating.
She expressed: “It’s been extremely difficult to make people recognize our value. That’s both disappointing and underwhelming. I’ve always viewed this field as enchanting, almost magical. To learn about its less glamorous side has been disheartening. It was a tough realization.
She noted: “Some individuals managing studios may not have the inclination to create works that are unique, daring, unsettling, potentially harmful, authentic, raw, and reflective of the human condition with its complexities and imperfections.
Acting and watching acting are both equally challenging, yet deeply satisfying. For an actor, it’s a longing, a yearning to bring a story to life authentically. As an audience member, the desire is to witness that authenticity unfold on screen. It’s a relentless struggle, but we, as artists, are resilient. We grind, we push ourselves, striving tirelessly to tell stories that resonate with us and hopefully, with others.”

At the interview, Dakota, being the offspring of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, was inquired about the beginnings of her career in acting.
Regarding that time, she remarked: ‘After graduating, I exclusively applied to Juilliard but wasn’t accepted. The entire experience felt grueling and petrifying.’
If you manage to secure an audition, it lasts for two days and involves being part of a chorus line. You’re expected to be asked for another audition, but that didn’t happen in my case. Honestly, I wasn’t too bothered because I had no intention of attending college.

She acknowledged that she wasn’t enthusiastic about attending college in the first place, yet she found it disappointing when her father, Don (age 75), suggested cutting her off financially. She emphasized that it was challenging for her to earn a living.
Dakota mentioned that she sometimes found herself in tight spots financially, but fortunately, she received financial assistance from her well-known parents, both of whom are successful actors.
Over the past couple of years, I struggled to earn a steady income. Occasionally, I found myself short on funds, unable to cover basic expenses like groceries or rent. During those tough times, I had to rely on my parents’ assistance, for which I am deeply thankful as they were more than willing to lend a hand.
‘But it certainly was not fun. The auditioning process, as you know, is the f**king worst.’
