Dakota Johnson And Chris Evans Are Clueless About The Summer I Turned Pretty—And I’m Heartbroken
In the world of pop culture, there are numerous entertaining rivalries such as Backstreet Boys versus *NSYNC, Michael Jordan against LeBron James, Star Wars versus Star Trek, and the ongoing discussion about which Chris in Hollywood is the best. Interestingly, one of these Chrises, Chris Evans, along with his co-star Dakota Johnson from the film Materialists, provided some insights into these debates as their movie was scheduled for release in 2025. However, it seems there’s no favoritism shown towards The Summer I Turned Pretty.
In Materialists, which received a full 5 stars in TopMob’s review, Dakota Johnson’s Lucy finds herself torn between Chris Evans’ John and Pedro Pascal’s Harry. It therefore seemed appropriate to get their opinions on other famed love triangles. Twilight was the first series mentioned by MTV, to which Johnson cagily responded, “Who?” as Evans admitted:
Oh, I was like, ‘I’m Team Edward.’ I probably should have said, ‘Who?’
I must admit, Chris Evans’ openness is commendable since everyone has their own perspective. Previously, I thought myself a member of ‘Team Jacob’, but in retrospect, it seems I was more a follower of ‘Team Shirtless Taylor Lautner.’ Dakota Johnson’s reaction, originating from the actress of Fifty Shades of Grey, is downright amusing given that her novels started as a spin-off from the Twilight series. Interestingly enough, she too confessed to being a supporter of ‘Team Edward.’
Following that, we moved on to “Dawson’s Creek,” where the actor from “The Avengers” once more weighed in on the long-standing debate between Dawson and Pacey, stating his opinion casually.
Wow, oh wow, it’s gotta be Pacey! Wait, who’s taking on the role of Dawson now? I mean no offense to James Van Der Beek, but seriously, who in their right mind would say Dawson like that?
Sorry, James Van Der Beek, this vote’s unanimous as well, with Dakota Johnson agreeing:
No, obviously Pacey. Come on.
Subsequently arrived the YA book-to-screen adaptation titled “The Summer I Turned Pretty“, which is set to release its third season on July 16 and can be streamed using an Amazon Prime Video subscription. The debate between Team Jeremiah and Team Conrad left the actors from “Materialists” perplexed, while Dakota Johnson, unknowingly, gave a strong reaction reminiscent of “Belly” with her response.
I’m going to choose neither and both.
Honestly, she has no idea how spot-on she is. At least, as someone who has watched the YA series.

For those who recall watching “Dawson’s Creek,” it might be challenging to relate to Jenny Han’s young adult romance series or the Prime Video adaptation, given our advanced age. As a member of the older Millennial generation, I feel compelled to share my (potentially unpopular but accurate) perspective on the matter.
At TopMob, there are those who strongly support Jeremiah, while we also have a group of supporters for Conrad, often referred to as the ‘Conrad girls’. To be honest, I personally find both Conrad and Belly rather grating, not exactly my ideal company. If they decide to work together, that’s their choice. However, I firmly believe in Team Jeremiah Has Potential for Improvement.
After taking care of that matter, it’s definitely interesting to explore the puzzled expressions of Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans when questioned about their roles in “The Summer I Turned Pretty“.
