In an unfortunate turn of events for Ava, it turns out that one of the corpses she’s tasked with recovering belongs to her own husband. The movie, alongside Ridley, features performances from actors Mark Coles Smith, Brenton Thwaites, and Matt Whelan.

According to Variety’s report, Signature Entertainment has obtained the rights for the zombie film from Neon International. Earlier this year, Vertical had already acquired the North American rights for it.

According to Elizabeth Williams, Signature’s Chief Commercial Officer, the film “We Bury the Dead” instantly caught their attention due to its marketable genre, outstanding acting performances, and high-quality production standards.

We’re excited to collaborate with Neon for its debut in the UK and Ireland, and we’re equally happy to team up with Daisy Ridley once more following our triumphant collaboration on Magpie last year.

In March of 2025, the movie “We Bury the Dead” made its first appearance at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, and it was met with positive feedback from film critics.

1922’s Zak Hilditch penned and helmed the film, “We Bury the Dead.” As of now, the United Kingdom has not announced a release date for this movie. However, with Signature Entertainment having recently acquired it, it seems likely that a release is coming up soon.

In simpler terms, Screen Rant’s review of the movie “We Bury the Dead” directed by Zak Hilditch mentions that although it has common themes associated with zombie movies, it presents these themes in an original manner. The performance of Daisy Ridley in the film is commendable and moving.

According to Bloody Disgusting, this film successfully explores new aspects within the commonly explored genre of zombie horror, providing some authentic jumpscares and an impressive feeling of vastness. However, Hilditch tends to stick to established themes rather than venturing too far from the familiar territory.

The film, according to Variety, grapples with its desire to be a classic zombie movie. However, it shines brightest when it brings fresh perspectives to this familiar genre subtype.

We Bury the Dead does not currently have a UK release date.
