Daisy Ridley, known for her role in Star Wars, is continuing to take on dramatic, real-life stories. After appearing in last year’s Young Woman and the Sea, she’ll star as Bryony Tyrell, an NHS nurse who became an MMA fighter, in the upcoming film Killa Bee.
According to Deadline, the actor will play a mother of two with advanced degrees in molecular biology and nursing. The character works in an intensive care unit.
Tyrell started kickboxing while she was a student and continued practicing it in the evenings as she began her career. Eventually, after earning a black belt, she transitioned to other forms of martial arts.

Tyrell rose to prominence as a top MMA fighter in Britain after competing in many events. She is actively involved in the making of this film about her career.
Ridley praised Bryony’s incredible strength and determination, calling her story deeply inspiring and emotionally powerful. He expressed his excitement about adapting her life into a film, eager to capture her vibrant personality.

Kenton Oxley, the director of the film Farah, is directing this project. Ruth Sewell wrote the screenplay.
Sewell’s website offers a bit more insight into the story, explaining that it centers on Tyrell’s struggle with a mental health crisis.
Producers say Bryony Tyrell has been with the project since it started and is happy her story will be adapted for the screen. She’s also actively helping to guide the production.
The script was developed with close input from Bryony’s family, making sure it felt emotionally honest and stayed true to her vision. Director Kenton, who has been friends with Bryony since childhood, is approaching the story with a personal touch, built on a foundation of trust, shared history, and strong creative commitment.

Nathan Wang, who is in charge of selling the film, said he’s proud to be involved with such a unique, powerful, and moving project that audiences won’t soon forget.
We’re thrilled to be working with Daisy Ridley for the first time, and we’re excited to see her portray Byony’s strength, emotional depth, and incredible determination on screen.
The American Film Market will host sales this week, and filming is currently scheduled to begin next year.
