Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her roles in shows like Normal People and the movie Where the Crawdads Sing, has unfortunately had to leave an upcoming Irish historical thriller due to unexpected issues.
The actor was set to star in Bad Bridgets, a movie based on the 2023 non-fiction book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick.
Unfortunately, the original plan fell through because Edgar-Jones had to leave the project due to other commitments. Thankfully, Alison Oliver, known for her roles in Saltburn and Wuthering Heights, has quickly stepped in to take over the part (according to The Hollywood Reporter).

Oliver will star in the film alongside Emilia Jones, known for her roles in CODA and Task. Rich Peppiatt, the director of Kneecap, is directing the movie, and Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, is producing it.
I recently read this fascinating book about something called “Bad Bridgets” – it turns out a lot of Irish women who emigrated in the 1800s ended up in jail for causing trouble! What really surprised me was the research showed there were actually more women inmates than men in Ireland at that time. It’s a really eye-opening look at a hidden part of history.
What to Read Next
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the historical thriller follows two sisters who journey from Ireland, which is suffering from famine, to New York City in the 1800s. Once there, they and other Irish immigrants cause trouble throughout the city.
We don’t have a confirmed release date for the movie yet. However, Variety reported last October that filming was planned to begin this spring. It’s unclear if that timeline is still accurate, but most likely the thriller will be released in late 2027 or early 2028.
Farrell and McCormick’s book has received widespread praise from both readers and critics. Described as a significant work of social history and true crime, it’s been called a “captivating account of lives previously ignored” by The Sunday Independent (according to Amazon).

Although Daisy Edgar-Jones is no longer working on this particular movie, she has recently been cast in a new role. She will star in the film adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s popular novel, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, following her appearances in Fresh and On Swift Horses.
Sadie and Sam, who grew up together, find themselves working side-by-side in the video game world after rediscovering their friendship. Siân Heder is directing the movie, and the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet.
Bad Bridgets has no release date.
I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends, a gorgeous, full-color magazine all about Harry Styles, is finally out! You can grab a copy at any newsstand or order it online. It’s 100 pages of pure Harry goodness!
