Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her role in Normal People, will star in the movie adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s popular novel, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. The film follows the story of Sadie and Sam, childhood friends who later collaborate in the video game industry.
As reported by Variety, Emma Mackey will portray Sadie in the upcoming film. Siân Heder, the writer and director of the Academy Award-winning CODA, is also writing the screenplay and directing this new project. The rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet.
Okay, so the book, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, starts with this really cool scene. I’m immediately hooked because it’s about Sam seeing Sadie at a train station, and it instantly flashes him back to being a kid – specifically, all the time they used to spend lost in video games together. It feels like a story about friendship and how games can connect people, and I’m already wanting to know what happens next!

A shared passion quickly brings them together, launching a creative partnership destined for greatness. It’s the 1990s – a time of limitless potential. Over the following decades, their story unfolds, filled with both the joys of friendship and the sting of competition, soaring fame and artistic expression, heartbreaking betrayals and devastating loss, and the constant search for connection, love, and belonging.
Gabrielle Zevin’s 2022 novel has become a worldwide success, selling over four million copies. It was also recognized as one of the best books of the 21st century, landing at number 76 on the New York Times‘ list in 2024.
What to Read Next
In 2021, before the novel was even released, Paramount Pictures and Temple Hill Entertainment acquired the rights to Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. Director Sam Heder joined the project in 2024 and worked with Mark Bomback to develop the initial screenplay.
The novel was immediately praised by both critics and readers. In fact, The Independent called it a potential Great American Novel and a major literary success.
According to The Guardian, the novel is beautifully balanced – delightful without being overly sweet. They also praised the richly detailed and imaginative world Zevin has built, noting its playful quality, much like the worlds created within the story itself.

Russell T Davies, the showrunner for Doctor Who, highly praised the novel, calling it “Magnificent” and expressing his love for it. He specifically highlighted its “wisdom and tenderness about friendship and love as the years march on,” according to a statement on Amazon.
Later this year, viewers will be able to see Jenna Ortega co-starring with Robert Pattinson in the new Netflix thriller, Here Comes the Flood. First looks at the movie were shared in January, and the film is expected to premiere on the streaming service soon.
There’s no release date yet for the film adaptation of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
