Daily Paper Brings Afro-Futurism to Oakley in a New Eyewear Collaboration
Summary:
- Daily Paper and Oakley have announced their first official collaboration, releasing a take on the eyewear brand’s iconic Gascan frame.
- The brands are also releasing a limited-edition RSLV frame gifted exclusively to friends and family.
- Former footballer Djibril Cissé stars in an accompanying campaign that reinforces themes of heritage, innovation and community.
For the first time, Daily Paper and Oakley have joined forces, a collaboration that was long overdue. Ever since Daily Paper was founded in 2012, Oakley eyewear has been a frequent presence in its photo shoots. Now, this official partnership brings together Oakley’s sports excellence with Daily Paper’s unique streetwear style.
The partnership combines Oakley’s design focus on performance with Daily Paper’s narrative centered around culture, coinciding with Oakley appointing Travis Scott as their inaugural Chief Visionary Officer. This fusion results in the Gascan frame being redesigned through an Afrofuturist perspective, blending innovation and cultural roots – a concept that Daily Paper often delves into, reflecting its founders’ African heritage.
These glasses boast a matte surface and a striking electric-blue Oakley emblem, complemented by a stylish Daily Paper logo on the left lens. These elements harmoniously blend into one streamlined, high-wrap design that merges two unique realms. The brands assert these glasses are for individuals “redefining fashion, sports, and individuality” standards, and they recently introduced a campaign featuring French football icon Djibril Cissé – an athlete known for his groundbreaking style, on and off the field, who embodies their shared ideology.
On the 4th of July, you can find the collaboration between Daily Paper and Oakley Gascan being released at various retailers, including Daily Paper’s own site, with a price tag of €165 EUR.
