Cynthia Erivo returns to New York after travelling 10,350 miles in THREE days for the GQ Awards in London amid her hectic Wicked press tour

Cynthia Erivo returned to New York on Wednesday after a whirlwind three days of travel – over 10,350 miles – promoting the upcoming movie, Wicked: For Good.

The 38-year-old actress is currently promoting her new film, but she quickly flew back to London to be at the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Tuesday evening.

It came after on Monday she was in NYC for the Wicked premiere with Ariana Grande.

She was back in New York on Wednesday and showcased two fashionable looks: a sophisticated grey jacket with a tie, and previously, a sleek leather outfit.

Despite arriving in New York City only 24 hours before, Cynthia looked refreshed and showed no signs of jet lag at the GQ Awards last night.

The actress, recently featured on the cover of GQ magazine, cheerfully went inside, bundled up in a shimmering silver coat with fringe.

And on Monday at the NYC premiere she wore a striking black leather dress with feather detailing.

Cynthia covered GQ recently amid press for Wicked where she plays Elphaba Thropp.

During the interview, she revealed that despite her ongoing success and the happiness it brings to her supporters – especially her mother, Edith – she carries a deep personal sadness.

The actress hasn’t seen her father since she was sixteen, and they haven’t reconciled. She explained that a silly argument about a train ticket in London led to a long-lasting rift, and he hasn’t been there to see her become successful.

Cynthia recounted to GQ their last conversation, recalling him simply stating, “This will be the last time I ever see you.” It was abrupt and final.

‘I just didn’t see it coming. I guess you wouldn’t, would you?’

After that, the actress lost touch with her father and doesn’t know anything about his life – not his job, who he was close to, or what he believed in.

She doesn’t have his phone number, but Cynthia says she’s reminded of him whenever she sees her own reflection or a photo of herself. They have very similar faces, especially a noticeable gap between their front teeth.

‘It’s a supreme joke,’ she told GQ. ‘It’s a joke from the universe to remind me how human I am.

I grew up listening to him – he had a really beautiful voice. I think that’s influenced my own voice, which is a little strange and frustrating to realize, but I’ve accepted it. It just is what it is.

‘It’s what the universe does. This is the lemon. Make lemonade.’

Cynthia thinks that by accepting what happened, she’s protected herself from getting hurt and stopped herself from questioning why he left so suddenly.

She explained, ‘It doesn’t help me at all. His reasons are his own, and this doesn’t change our situation. It doesn’t mean we’ll get back together. I’ve actually found a way to move on and feel at peace with things.’

Honestly, everything just kind of fell into place after that. It’s still surreal to be here, talking about being named Man of the Year – it doesn’t feel real!

She mentioned that people often tease her for seeming to get over things fast – that she doesn’t dwell on them for very long.

I simply accept when something occurs, or is occurring, and I don’t pretend it isn’t.

You know, life just is. It keeps moving, even when things are tough. I always tell people, don’t get too hung up on today. There’s always a fresh start waiting for you tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. Life doesn’t pause, so neither should you!

‘So if I drag this thing into the next day, month, how do I function? How do I then move forwards?

‘I think that is death. To be stuck.’
