At the EE BAFTA 2025 Awards, which took place at the Royal Festival Hall on a Sunday, Cynthia Erivo, who played a leading role in Wicked, captured attention as she made her entrance.

The actress, 38, opted for a structured white lace dress which featured a dramatic corset design.

She sported her usual statement long nails as she posed up a storm at the star-studded event.

Cynthia complemented her red-carpet style by adding striking silver earrings from Tiffany, while she chose a radiant makeup approach.

The star boosted her height with strappy white heels to perfectly compliment her quirky dress. 

2025 EE BAFTA Awards makes a comeback for an unforgettable evening filled with excitement, honoring the outstanding movies of the year and the brilliant artists who breathe life into them.

As a devoted admirer, for the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of attending the dazzling event held at the illustrious Royal Albert Hall. However, in 2023, this magnificent spectacle finds its new abode – the grand Royal Festival Hall at Southbank Centre – where it will once more grace us with its presence.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards encompass 25 competitive categories which are decided by BAFTA members. 

The program is set to unveil thrilling innovations, such as introducing a fresh Children’s & Family Film category that honors outstanding movies suitable for both children and adults.

The freshly introduced category will make its debut after a gap of five years, which also signifies the introduction of a brand-new EE BAFTA Film Award for the first time in five years.

A fresh change is implemented in the Outstanding British Film category, which now features a revised method for voting.

At the Thriller Conclave, a total of 12 nominations were earned in every category, making it the most nominated production. Meanwhile, Emilia Perez followed closely with 11 nominations, and The Brutalist garnered 9.

Back on our turf, the remarkable film “Conclave” has more than doubled its recognition at the upcoming British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), compared to its nominations it received just last month at the Golden Globes in the bustling city of Los Angeles.

A gripping drama featuring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini revolves around the clandestine and tension-filled selection of a new Pope, in which power, ambition, and hidden truths intertwine amongst rival cardinals.

In a surprising turn of events, it surpassed the US triumph of the Spanish drama “Emilia Perez,” which garnered 11 BAFTA nominations after winning 10 awards at the American award show.

Once more, Gladiator 2 has been overlooked by award panels, as it did not receive a nomination for Best Picture, and its principal actor, Irish performer Paul Mescal, aged 28, was excluded from the BAFTA’s list of Best Actor contenders.

I, a devoted admirer, find myself honored to be included among the exceptional talents nominated for the Leading Actress category at this year’s Outrun Awards. Notably, alongside me are the remarkable Cynthia Erivo and Saoirse Ronan. Previously, I had the privilege of receiving my first acting recognition at the Globes for my role in Substance, but this new nomination holds a special place as it echoes the hard work and dedication put into each performance.

Movie business experts think that her inclusion on the BAFTA shortlist for Ghost significantly boosts her chances of receiving her initial Oscar.

In other BAFTA nominations, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin are set to compete against each other in the category of Supporting Actor. They were both nominated for their roles in the series “A Real Pain” and the movie “The Apprentice: Trump Biopic.

Simultaneously, Adrien Brody’s movie, “The Brutalist”, garnered nine BAFTA nominations, while “Dune 2” and “Wicked” each received seven.

In the 2024 movie “Back To Black,” Marisa Abela’s exceptional portrayal of Amy Winehouse has made her the top contender for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award.

On Tuesday, the list that was revealed consists of Marisa, Jharrel Jerome (known for Unstoppable), David Jonsson (famous for Alien: Romulus), Mikey Madison (recognized as Anora), and Nabhaan Rizwan (acclaimed in In Camera).

Coincidentally, David, Nabhaan and Marisa were all stars of BBC drama Industry.

This year’s BAFTA nominations, according to its chairman Sara Putt, showcase an outstanding diversity.

She noted: “Moreover, if you examine the top 10 films for best picture, it seems that there are about six distinct genres represented within them.

In various genres – sci-fi, comedy, horror, drama, and even musicals – nominations are being given out. Notably, in the horror category, we’ve got “Nosferatu,” “The Substance,” and “Heretic” receiving recognition.

You’re aware, aren’t you? The collection of movies I’m referring to spans genres, starting from ‘Wicked’ and extending all the way to ‘Kneecap’. This diverse and extensive catalog truly offers an exhilarating experience.

Winning this award is often considered a stepping stone towards achieving A-list fame, boasting past recipients such as Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch, and Kristen Stewart.

David Tennant will take to the stage to host the BAFTAs for a second year in a row. 

The actor, 53, first hosted the awards show last year, taking over from Richard E Grant.

Without a doubt, he’ll be showcasing his charm and wit, having already made an impressive debut that captured the attention of more than 3.8 million home viewers.

Over 20 million times, the ceremony highlights were viewed by fans as they scrolled through social media platforms.

This year, it’s unlikely that Prince William, currently serving as the BAFTA president, will be joined by his wife Catherine on the red carpet during the ceremony.

As a lifestyle advisor, I lamentably had to forgo attending the prestigious awards ceremony last year, as I myself was battling with a formidable foe: cancer. It wasn’t until March 22nd that I felt compelled to share this personal struggle via a heartfelt video message. On the other hand, Prince William graciously walked the red carpet at the Baftas on his own during those same weeks, embodying resilience and grace in the face of adversity.
