Cyndi Lauper fans fiercely defend 71-year-old singer over ’embarrassing’ viral performance

Supporters of Cyndi Lauper vigorously came to her defense when a video of her latest performance spread online, causing controversy.

A post from an account on X has just released a clip of the 71-year-old ’80s pop-rock sensation performing during her final tour, titled “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell,” marking her first significant tour in over a decade.

The video displayed the songwriter, who encountered significant audio issues during her Glastonbury performance in June of last year, sporting teal-colored hair and donning a shimmering silver attire. She was energetically dancing about while performing her 1985 hit, “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough.

The title of the post was questioning what might have changed with Cyndi Lauper, and another individual responded by suggesting that since she is now 71 years old, it would be appropriate for her to retire, expressing that continuing to perform may be detrimental to her image.

However, many fans took to Cyndi’s defense. 

Music critic and internet personality Anthony Fantano penned: ‘She released numerous chart-toppers, produced many albums, grew older, and built a fan base that she continues to entertain for decades. Can you achieve the same feat? Is being unintelligent on Twitter destined for the same level of endurance?’

In response to the query about the singer’s situation, a fan replied, “It’s the same fate that awaits you all – growing old.

‘Dude, she’s 71 years old. I hope I’m hopping around like that at 71,’ yet another chimed in. 

‘She’s 71 years old? It’s not realistic to expect her to look and sound the same as when she was 32, but she certainly doesn’t disappoint. I think she looks fantastic, and her voice is quite impressive.’

As a lifestyle expert, I found myself standing shoulder-to-shoulder with countless others who passionately defended Cyndi against the unjustified misogyny and ageism she faced. Together, we made it clear that such behavior is unacceptable in our community.

Aging is what it’s called. At this stage, I wouldn’t pay to watch her performance, but I must give her credit for making an effort. Instead of residing passively in a nursing home, she continues to move and be active. The act of singing keeps her mind sharp. So let’s appreciate her for staying lively.

Thornton was previously pictured bailing Dex out of jail with $20,000 in cash.

Dex allegedly name-dropped his famous mom during his arrest on gun charges.

During the arrest after a shooting in Harlem, the suspect, believed to be a “nepo baby” (a term referring to celebrities whose careers are often attributed to their family connections), reportedly shared details about his famous mother and her successful song with the police officers, as stated in court records that have been obtained by The New York Post.
